This team is further along talent wise this year then they were last year. Botts has the ammunition to make a trade that adds another top 6 forward to this team that could put us in the conversation for the playoffs.
The moves to add Joker, Miller, Mojo, Vesey we’re not available last year in season, never mind the additional steps this team needs to continue to set ourselves up for success this year. - Swedish_Jesus
Your words were that we should continue to tank until we have the talent to compete with Tampa, etc
Does another top6 forward put us in that class of teams in your opinion?
By your logic from last season...
Wouldn’t the Sabres be better off in the long run if we decided to tank for Lefreniere this year? |

Teams don't have the cap space right now either. He could have a player in mind but 1 player is making more then the other and teams can't take on the cap hit - Buff36
If it is the player he wants, and the Cap swap is uneven with Sabres player with the higher Cap as you suggest...then hold cap space if for a player with one or two years remaing..to which there are only a few on this team with more than the 2019 season left in which that scenario would be encountered:
- Eichel, not trading, mute point
- Skinner, see Eichel
- Okposo, highly difficult contract to trade, highly probable it is a mute point
- Johansson, probably not trading, likely a mute point
- Risto, very applicable
- Miller, applicable, probably not trading, likely mute point
McCabe, applicable for 2019 and 2020 seasons, relatively low contract value, Cap hold would be relatively low, hardly an issue
- Dahlin, see Eichel
- Jokiharju, see Eichel
Btw, there are 18 teams with more than $3m in Cap space avail.
Using Risto as an example cause it is a relatively high Cap hit on the Sabres for a trade...that would mean the Sabres would get a guy with a cap hit like ERods for those 18 teams to have an issue trading...I'll pass on alot of guys making $2m or less as a 1:1 for Risto. |

I get it, but he has to realize he will get fired f they collapse from tops in the league again |

Let’s put it this way, this team will be picking in the top 15 guaranteed without making a move to address their forward group. That will give us a crack at one of Lafreniere, Byfield or Raymond/Holtz in the lottery.
Botts holds the keys here, even if we add a top 6 forward we still might not make the playoffs. However with Montour, Joker, Miller, Borgen, Nelson, Laaksonen. We have enough depth at RHD to move Risto for that said forward.

Yeah... you’ve stated this MANY times,
like I’m only talking to YOU
You have see all the others calling for trades & moves to be made NOW though,
Haven’t you?
I’m not twisting anything
My points just aren’t directed solely at you dude - jdfitz77

If they finish bottom 5 yes. I don’t think he gets fired if they miss the playoffs. |

I want more forwards. Have for a while. I still dont care for Vesey at all. Botterill put himself in this position with the forwards because he decided to go full tilt on the defense. Figure it out and get an impact forward. It's his job |

Could we have gotten another player in the 18ish range that can turn out to be good as well?
Are u cheering for us to lose again this year bc we still don’t have enough high end talent to compete with the Caps, Tampa, Boston, etc? - jdfitz77
Statistically, no. |

I don't think that is on the table realistically. He has shown the ability to execute trades to bring in better talent. He has gotten beat on the ROR trade initially, but has recovered enough on it.
This team would have to poop the bed for it to happen, and I don't see it happening under Krueger. |

You made two points.
One was correct. One was wrong.
50%. Fail.
EDIT: I am incorrect. So I fail.
But the overwhelmingly most frequent usage, which Ion meant to use, is the opposite of “debatable.” |
