Beane was still assistant gm for Carolina. There was no way Whaley was going to be allowed to draft a qb. The bills liked Watson better anyway. So, Whaley traded way down in the 1st, grabbed Tre white and a 1st In the following draft.

My guess is that Botts has a couple deals in mind,
but other teams haven’t been willing to pull the trigger yet
