Like I said, you're working really hard to convince yourself he's going to come cheap. Yet, you like him and know better. We're not going to pick Yzerman's pockets.

Guess im just smart enough to not over pay for a guy who has the same amount of goals as sobotka.
and its funny one person says its cheap and another says they wont deal that player cause they are playing so well
Check it out. Get yourself a fire stick, follow the directions to install the cinema. Everything you could ever want at your fingertips. I watched joker on there 5 days before it hit the theaters.

The question is, what exactly is he...2nd line 55pt, or 3rd line 35pt?
2 years as 35pt, 1 year at 55pt, this year completely poopting the bed.
Yes they suck, but is he or is he not a line driver?
This year on pace for 6/30/36 and -104 , in a contract year. (That's a new approach to secure a payday )
Is he LW or C? Presumptively C, but not great on the dot and certainly a defensive liability.
So, he needs to be protected by getting O-zone starts, and playing with decent talent.
That's fine, and could be slotted between Skinner and Mojo, so there is a fit.
All that stacks up to a 2nd/3rd line tweeter, and to me that should be the value.
Detroit looking for younger Dmen I would think.
Maybe Pilut and Vesey/Sheary?
have to give to get and works out financially. Also we have plenty of D and he can be replaced easily.
R you in the boat of only trading out Poopty players that nobody wants?
Yes I want to deal scandy and bogo but what we have to add i dont want to do. - hubie
I'm all for trading someone good if it's an upgrade. Sam for example.
My point is:
I doubt a team would name jake a captain, then trade him.
And he also provides exactly what we need on he back end. Physicality and defensively responseable.
Seems like we have a surplus of puck moving d. To get you need to give, but not open a week spot

I agree, we should all realize how a rebuild works:
I'd give them our 1st this year (lottery protected) and a couple prospects. Borgen or pilut
At some point we need to be taken seriously. Moving some future for now - Boss34
I wouldn't mind paying for the right guy, and I think he could be it, but he has flaws in addition to being all over the map as to what he is, what to expect. I think a 1st + is too much.
For ROR, future Selke and MVP we got
2 cap dumps, a late first (protected), B prospect, distant 2nd.

AA is no ROR. - IonSabres
Too many external factors to compare to RoR.
AA in the rental market gets a 1st + easily. As an RFA, that just goes up.
Not sold on him as a key long term piece here either.
I still think Winnipeg is the team to target. Looking to Detroit is tough to gauge a trade especially because big trades within the division are always hard to predict. Not as hard nowadays where the teams don't play as often, but still tough to determine.
How about a trade with the Jets for Laine and Byfuglien sending back Risto, Bogo, Sheary and someone like ERod or Vesey?
Jets get immediate D help which they definitely need and gets rid of the circus surrounding them with Buff that could linger into next season as well.
Buffalo gets the best player in the deal and frees up roster space to call up someone like TT. If Buff comes back good, if not he's buried and his cap doesn't count.
Laine, although not scoring a lot of goals, is having a pretty good season. 3g and 11a (3g 7a at even strength) all while shooting at a career low 6.4%. Also is tied for the most hits among forwards. He would be the natural sniper that we desperately could use. He will still be an RFA when his contract is up and Mojo's $4.5m will be off the books.

Laine and Buff for Risto and 3 guys with no term left?
