I get the feeling the Devils are in on Scandella. The team can't hold leads - they want a guy who does it better than what they have now.

It's not going to be with Sheary for Hall, that's ridiculous. If Mark Stone got Ottawa Brannstrom, NJ isn't getting two roster players.

I have no idea who'd be bait on the Devils, but if it's a Henrique for Vatanen type of swap, then it might cost the Devils a forward the fans won't like departing with.

LJ set the bar pretty low.......But he sure redeemed himself with a 3rd rd pick and Carrick. Hopefully Carrick is nearing a return. Butcher doesn't have a chance with Tennyson as his pairing.

Sabres are DESPERATE to win, so what if Devils were looking at Casey Mittelstadt (assuming Hall is involved)?
No point on trading for Scandella and potentially he and Vats/Greene walk.

It would be rather odd for them to send scouts to a game if that target is injured - so I suppose that kills that speculation.

I don't see that Hall would be involved (yet) or his agent would certainly know about it. According to Insider Trading, they're still talking, set to meet tomorrow in Calgary.

And Mittelstadt is a center... NJ is loaded at that position. I can't imagine NJ would be looking at any top 9 forward at all at this point.

So we have scouts at a few Sabres games right before agent and Shero meet....Perhaps an approval for a trade?
Also the C/Wing thing... A center can play wing no problem. Its a great backup to have wings that play Center.

If we become a playoff team this year we def need a boost on D, but right now the team is doing well. 1 goal from Jets, thats pretty good team D right there. I am happy with the team for now so hopefully no change.

Even with that we are among the worst in the league in Goal Against Average per game. This is not a good defense or a good defensive system and it's been a problem for YEARS under Hynes and Nesreddine. Adding quality players like PK and Vats barely improve things because it's just not working. It's a systemic problem. The defense Stevens ran here didn't have any flashy names on it but it didn't stink like this. Granted the team was playing more defensively overall and the forwards helped a lot but still.

One game against Winnipeg doesn't mean anything.
