For all the laughs we got from the Sens in the last few years.
If San Jose keeps playing terribly, there's a chance they could get two top 5 picks next draft. - Scabeh
you're in a Leaf forum...
so there must be mention of the possibility of trading down...

Malcom Subban in net tonight vs VEGAS - Lucas.Neilson
If the Leafs don’t score 20 in the first period, it should be considered a failure. |

Marincin and forward Petan on waivers Thursday according to TSN. - zazzle
Does petan just get sent down? Or does he have to clear waivers again? |

This time he has to clear. He spent the full 30 days on the NHL roster before they recalled him. |

The cap space available to sign a backup goaltender was definetely an issue.
Ideally you'd either have a young goaltender in the ranks to take that spot (Sparks tried and failed) or sign a cheap UFA.
Looking around the league, plenty of teams found decent backup between 1.75 and 2.5M. I guess you needed to go to that range to make a "safer" bet on a backup goaltender. - Scabeh
I wonder why hutch is being scapegoated for poor defensive zone coverage?
leafs give up way to many shots and way to many high quality scoring chances. Is it really the goalies fault or more a problem with the way the leafs play defense and in the neutral zone.
Its not like hes a back up playing in front of a team thats giving up 23-25 shots agame and playing poorly.... but are we as fans expecting both the starter and back up to save 40 shots a night, night in and out and not have any squeak by?
i dont think its fair on us to blame hutch when hes had what 1 game in which he didnt face nearly 40 shots

Dermott looked really good the other night. I can only assume Dubas is preparing a 6x6 contract as we speak - BestRapperAlive

Because the goals he allows should be saved. He's a poop goalie. That's not up for debate. |

I dunno about that. I think hes a serviceable back up if he doesn't face 40 shots and 20 danger zone scoring chances a night. I wont disagree that hes let in a softy or 2, but so does anderson, but we are asking him to do what andy does and thats not fair.
the def have to play better and eliminate the high danger area scoring chances. hutchs numbers will even out if that happens. |

Hutch creates some scoring chances on his own by playing the puck or not smothering an easy rebound. |

I don’t like giving out too much content from the athletic....
But they came out with the prospect ranking and a good write up on Robertson who surpassed Liljegren in the rankings.
2. Nick Robertson, LW, 18 (OHL Peterborough Petes)
The good news here is that Robertson leap-frogging Liljegren and Bracco on the list has more to do with his exceptional play than it does with anything wrong they’ve done. I’ve watched a lot of Robertson over the last few months. I watched him play in Plymouth, Mich., for a week at the World Junior Summer Showcase; for another week in Traverse City as part of the Leafs’ prospect tournament, and twice more in person with the Petes to begin the year. During my time watching the Petes, Robertson recorded a hat trick, 10 shots, and a fight.
I’m not being hyperbolic when I say he looked, in all three settings, like an unstoppable force. He wowed USA Hockey staff as he dominated a tournament that included the likes of Kirby Dach and Kaapo Kakko. In quick order he has become one of junior hockey’s most dangerous scorers. I was higher on Robertson throughout his draft year than most — he finished 30th on my draft board while the Leafs plucked him 53rd overall — and yet in hindsight, I was still too low on him. He may not just become an energizing, middle-six forward at the next level, he may become a star. In a 2019 re-draft today, he might go in the teens. |

Honestly hope they keep Spezza. Guy had a good game the other night, scoring the shootout goal and more. He seems to have some JAM as well. Good mentor for our young guys... Shore will never be more then what he is, a KHL marginal NHLer. Do we really care that much about him winning faceoffs...
When HYman is back we dont need shore to kill penalties. - Hockey_Reverend
Spezza for me too. Especially after the shoot out goal. He gave us the second point for sure. With Marincin and Petan out of the picture, it's down to Shore and Timmy for the last spot. Bye Nick. |
