I used to watch the old NFL, then along came this league of 'inferiors,' the AFL," he says. "But we used to love to watch those games. And the Bills had some really good teams, man. And it'd be snowing, just like our game with Indy a couple of years ago. People love that stuff. That's why I hate domed stadiums."
Cheap and unnecessary hit. Someone needs to show this M-effer, he does this regularly to smaller players, although not often, - kastr99
I would not count on retribution coming from anyone wearing blue and gold. Not sure what good it'd do anyway. But if Tom Wilson works him over, I guess I'd chuckle at that.

Drury was drilled in the head. This was a low hit and it was late, but it's simply not on the same level - jcragcrumple
IMO the only difference is the point of contact. Head v knee. Both are targets for cheap shots. I’m not interested in degrees of cheap. If you hit me or my boys cheap, in any way, I’m taking you behind the woodshed.

Alright, I think this is more like Zadorov on Eichel last year. The Miller and Drury parallels are a little over the top imo

Well then you’re going to be very disappointed in this reply:
In my book, Zadarov’s hit on Eichel was the same as Neal/Drury: a cheap shot on the captain. Any cheap shot is bad, cheap shots at the captain are egregious.
In the line brawl that followed Neal/Drury, yknow why Lindy sent out the goons? He told Brian Murray why. “That’s our captain! You don’t hit our captain, hit Peters, but not our captain!”

I was fine with the response on the Eichel hit. It was still overblown imo. I think what happened to Sobotka happens around the league quite a bit, but for some reason Sabres fans always get worked up about this stuff more than other fan bases

Dirty? No.
"Extremely late"? No.
Unfortunate? Yes.
It was a hip-check that landed awkwardly a second after he reliquinshed possession of the puck. Both players were already in momentum - the die was cast.
Was it avoidable? Probably.
Is Kuch the new Lucic 2.0 or Marchand 2.0? No.
Now, if this continues into a pattern, I will change my opinion. I am not a homer. I have turned on dirty players on "my" team in the past (see Radko Gudas). But at this point, I think this is overreaction to an unfortunate play. It sucks that he was injured. Nobody wants that.
I'd be pissed if I was a Sabres fan. Yeah, somebody should have stood him up for it. He should have been penalized. But it wasn't dirty, filthy, greasy, scummy, or any of the other words I have seen used to describe it. And yes, I watched it live. And yes I watched it several times on replay at full speed and slo-mo. It's borderline. My opinion would be the same if the teams had been reversed.
This is a physical game played at high speed. Poop happens. I hope this isn't a serious injury. And I would fully expect a Sabre to take a run at Kuch today - and I wouldn't hold it against them as long as it isn't a Marchand spear, Lucic sucker punch, or Crosby chop.
Other than that hit, it was an entertaining game and I look forward to the next one.

My biggest problem is that Risto got called for a late hit that was no later than what Kuch did. That was bullpoop. They both should have gotten 2, or neither of them. The NHL is so inconsistent

Dirty and late
Kucherov didn't go to his position to deliver the hit after the puck was gone

At the intermission, JR and Patrick Sharp had a different opinion. Both of them called it dirty.
