Varlamov has seen the Islanders play two uncharacteristically terrible games in front of him in his last two appearances and they've taken 3 out of 4 points in those games. I think the rotation is fine.
The Tavares stuff will die down over time. Plus it's still so enjoyable to watch some of the Leafs writers wet their diapers over it. - eichiefs9
I'm fine with playing both goalies and I'm fine without JT's wonderful leadership and intangibles. |

Yep! Soft as butter little concept of defense and JT does not seem to have the toughness and personality to be Leafs captain. |

Was a bit surprised he was made captain but I guess there weren't really many other options |

I thought they’d give the C to Rielly. |

I can’t really argue with that. We collectively took a dump in the 3rd against Pitt and the first two goals tonight were both due to bad defending more than anything. The 2nd 2 goals I thought were on him though I thought. Could argue Boychuk should have been closer to JT though too.
Eh, you gotta a streak, I guess you don’t (frank) with that. I just feel more confident with Greiss I guess. He stood on his head against Florida. |

Matthews could not have been happy but they do not seem to have great choices. Muzzin would probably make a better captain than JT but so would most. |

Think Matthews was a bit too young, plus he might be the one person who has a blander personality than JT. Both great players but don't strike me as leaders |

The Tavares poop would mean more to me if we weren’t good and they were better. I’m obviously happy to get the better of them, but I’m happy when we win any game. I moved on after the 6-1 pounding last year. They have a ton of issues, starting with their defense, their goalies, and their hustle. The Cizikas pk early in the 3rd was priceless. |

This is the problem with the Leafs. They are all the same with no rebels. Very few players seem tough enough to handle the pressure playing for the Leafs. they need a Wendell Clark in the worst way. It's very tough when the captain of the team does not play defense and is afraid to rock the boat. |

Yeah I'm not saying Varly shouldn't shoulder any of the blame but the Islanders didn't play a good game at all against PIT and didn't play particularly great tonight either. The rotation is working right now and I'm more than happy to let it ride until it's not working. |

Varlamov will be fine only one of the 4 goals was his fault, goal # 3. Hoping Trotz gives Koivula shot next game at 3rd line center since Brassard back at wing.

Just about every one of his blogs since the start of the season. Last blog he wrote Trotz has a negligible effect on the teams success it’s all luck. He’ll die on that hill. |
