I think maybe the gist of that thought was that if the Islanders could push the Leafs around it would, in theory, make it easier for them to win. Not "they need the physicality to match that of the Leafs".

I don't really even consider Komarov a particularly "physical" player. He's a rat and a pest for sure, but he's not hitting people like Clutter/Martin/Casey do.

Oh ok, yeah just re-read the tweet, that could be one way of reading it

Garth had a lot of issues. His choice of Coaches was a friggin huge one. His inability to pull the trigger on a big trade to get a TOP Center to go along with Snake boy was huge. ... His Drafting was not an issue. We are watching a whole team of Garth Draft picks doing extremely well.

Yes Reinhardt was a bad pick. which he traded to get Barzal and Beau for which kinda makes up for it. Lee in the 6th round, Toews in the 3rd round, Casey in the 4th round, Spurgeon in the 6th round, Moving up to get DeHaan, Moving up to get Brock Nelson,.. in 2009 we had 7 picks.. JT, de Haan, Koskinen, Nilsson, Casey, Klementyev, and Anders Lee. ... find me a team with a draft that hit on 7 of 8 guys in one draft.

This may be on of the best moves in team history honestly

Yes you have to consider he missed on Nino and Strome. Skinner, Fowler, or Tarasenko could have been drafted over Nino. Scheifele, Couturier, or Hamilton could have been drafted over Strome. Pulock and Barzal were not lottery picks. You really want to credit JT? Garth is a failure on every level including drafting.

Garth sucked but at drafting he made a lot of moves that have turned out to be good players

Good players but outside of JT and Barzal, very few high impact players.

Look at the wasted 2nd round picks and the wasted picks on goalies by Garth.

His issues were more the things that he didn't do than the things he did do. He drafted OK, some very high points and also some pretty low ones.

But he didn't ever manage to bring in any outside top-six help, via free agency or trade, for Tavares. He didn't manage/replace his coaching staff competently or in a timely manner. He didn't give a flying (frank) about the AHL team. He did a poor job of managing some of the assets that he did draft.

How do you, or I or anyone for that matter know if the players drafted in his tenure were his ideas?

He did a poor job period! Overall job performance was shat. Thats the bottom line.

Stupid to even waste time on it really. Cpt a little help here!

This went from a discussion about Bellows and his skating and offensive struggles to some defending Garth's drafting?

We should have plenty to talk about with tomorrows game.

Isles are doing well so really not much to talk about
No female doging and complaining and no shat signings to talk about

Don't take that as me defending him. The guy sucked a mile of cock, there's no argument about it.

But he was the GM and everything, good or bad, happened under his watch. He shoulders all the blame but that also means you gotta give him credit for the positive things that happened. I'm just calling a spade a spade here.

I wish he got hit by a bus before they could officially hire him, but I'm not going to pretend like a few good things didn't happen either.

Yup.

They need to be in the Leafs face and definitely play them physically.

I know your not defending him that’s for sure
True you have to give him Kudos for a few hits but as you said his tenure sucked a mile of Donkey Dack so let’s just leave it there.

I kinda said MDC 2.0 after Dan's post. So I’m to blame as well

That said Dan started this shat.

How do the Leafs not have a knuckle dragger in the lineup after no response to the JT hit? The book on how to play the Leafs is written and they better do something about it. JT is going to lose his love for the Leafs real quick if they cannot protect him.

It is a little funny that on more than a few occasions, Isles scouts seem to forget to check the players skating ability before drafting them.
