So did Millbury and Chiarelli
- nyisles7

Actually true... Milbury just traded them all. At one point there were 6 Isles picks that were captains of another team.

I don’t get involved with the Garth did some good things debates. The bad he did which there was a whole lot of destroyed whatever good he did which was minimal and most of it was done by accident. The guy was the worst GM in this teams history of terrible ones. Maloney, Milbury, and Snow will go down as some of the worst if not worst GM’s in nhl history. We had the pleasure of having them in succession. A dynasty of crap.

Milbury was the worst.. it's not close. .. and by no means am I saying Garth was a good GM. I just give him credit for drafting (which was more his staff than him).. and not trading Young talent away for old guys on expiring contracts (Milbury did that all the time).

let me put it this way.. Milbury traded Brewer, Chara, Luongo, McCabe, Ziggy, Berard, Burtuzzi, JP Dumont, Torres, Salo, ....... all these guys were Isles draft picks that as a season ticket holder I was excited to see turn into great NHL players. That moron traded them all.

Malkin last night in OT doing the JT float back on Defense. He had just gotten on ice and was not tired. Did not feel like skating back which left Kakko wide open.

Koivula, Ladd and Dobson on the ice with the goalies. Likely those three are the scratches tonight.

Problem was once these players were off their ELC there was no money to sign them so he traded them. Not saying he was good at all but the state of the team financially at the time was a joke.

Outside of the DP pick, Milbury actually drafted pretty well. Milbury in many ways had it worse than Garth. Both were lousy GM's.

speaks to the Isles staff more than the GM's.. the drafting. I still give Garth credit for NOT trading all the picks everyone wanted for guys that would play for a year or less and leave like milbury. Thank God we got Trevor Linden.

The Lower Cap limit helped too.. .Spano told Milbury to cut the salary to what he was getting in Cable deal.

the fact that Spano happened is just amazing.

Honestly Milbury didn’t have the money to sign the good young players after coming off their ELC. Really the only thing he could do was trade them for the best pieces he could get. Wang did give the Organization financial stability under his ownership so this gave the GMs money to sign players.

Garth was more of a failure as he was never told to trade a player like Palffy.

No he was told not to trade a certain player that may or may not be doing nappies at the Uniondale Marriott right now

Same situation Milstein probably would have told Milbury you cannot trade JT. You cannot make this stuff up.
