Settle down boomer. Isn’t it past your bedtime? - Steven_Seagull
you gonna start with the anti-boomer stuff again?
I'd counter punch with a twitter parade - if I was actually impacted enough by it.
On a serious note... which Millenial doink are they suggesting is going replace Cherry?
It would have to be a millenial wouldn't it.. I mean - they couldn't by-pass entire generation and go younger could they?

If I was sitting in a conference room and I pointed at someone and said "you people come here and..." and proceeded to go on a rant, I would expect that I would get fired. |

If you were sitting in a conference room full of people of all different races and you said you people, refering to everyone in the room, would that be racist? |

I understand that he was referring to immigrants and I also don't think there is anything wrong with the sentiments that immigrants should purchase poppies to support the troops. The fact is that immigrants are not a race. Canadian immigrants are made up of all different races. If anything it was a nationalist sentiment more than a racist sentiment. Racist or racism is just a trigger word. It's like referring to everyone who disagrees with you as a nazi. I've disagreed with Don Cherry alot over the years and thought he was well past his best before date. I just disagree that this was a racist diatribe. Maybe it's semantics but in a world of policing speech and thoughts I think it's an important distinction. - HealthyScratch6
the word you're looking for is xenophobic, and it's no better than racism. |

I'm understand how he meant it and I think it's clear. I'm just arguing I think it's nationalist sentiment instead of a racist one. I'm against PC cancel culture where everything is considered racist. |

he 100% meant it that way. it wasn't just "you people" it was "you people come here". if he had been ripping on all Canadians not wearing a poppy, no issue there. i think it's a stupid thing to say but not really that controversial. singling out immigrants and giving a pass to white native-born Canadians like me is what made this such a poopty thing for him to do. |

is having a distinct society within a larger society considered xenophobic?
or is that just wanting to grab more financial resources than the representative population warrants?
or more simply put, designating that group a special? |

You're inferring this. I agree with you that Don Cherry is 100% xenophobic and a nationalist. He's shown it time and time again. He rips Russians swedes fins and Americans all the time but you're inferring that he's also racist. |

That's a lot of questions but I'll answer as best as I can. First of all, Kudos to you for even knowing that there IS a difference!!
Miss USA is mostly about looks. There are three phases of competition all weighted equally - evening gown, swimsuit and interview.
Miss America is more about the total package. There are five phases of competition - Talent at 35%, Interview at 25%, Evening Gown at 20%, Swimsuit at 15% and On Stage Question at 5%.
There are three things that really make the Miss America system different...there is a talent portion, the interview is much more intense and, most importantly, it provides millions of dollars in scholarships not only to the winners, but runner ups, preliminary winners, etc. every year.
Neither system is necessarily "better" than the other. They are just different. There are girls that are successful only in one system, but there are many that crossover and are successful in both.
Hope this explains it

I know 20 people who have canceled there Rogers cable and or cell plan already over it. Not because what he said was right or wrong but because the timing of the firing. Sorry to say but its picking up traction and it might turn into a huge mistake on there part. - Buck Norris
Doubt it.

Maybe Cherry's replacement will be someone of colour, under the age of 35 and that identifies as non-gender? |
