The Leafs were/are bad defensively for Babs’ entire tenure.
- Steven_Seagull

Never as bad as this. They have the 4th or 5th worst GA. That's the worst since the year they drafted Matthews.

Seriously, how complicated can a system be? It's hockey. Everyone play 2 dmen and 3 forwards. It cannot be that difficult to comprehend.

It's not like soccer when team use 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 5-3-2, 3-5-2, 4-4-1-1, 4-1-3-2 etc.

Why all the bytching. Leafs dominated that whole period. The Pukelanders had two chances and scored on both. Its called Luck ffs.

I think Nylander deserves credit for the zone entry on that goal... 'cause he wasn't on the ice.

They just don’t do any of the little necessary things.

It’s pretty fücking obvious they’re trying to cheat every game.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Nylander is the softest player alive.

Not willing to pay the price.

It's a noticeable issue, I agree, but not something I think you can really quantify.

Honestly all I want are top 10 in both special teams and stop doing those god-awful fly-by stick checks, and this team would be fine. That's literally it.

Edit: And a back-up goalie.

Watching the Islanders makes some of Babcock's decisions so much more baffling. The Islanders have so little skill its insane, so many off passes and ugly flailing around constantly.

But their system is so simple. They just completely collapse in the D zone, and then proceed to flip the puck around and bang at it like a pee-wee squad until something breaks down and they get a couple of bounces.

Why can't we play like that? But, you know, with skill?

And don't say they hit or whatever. Our forecheck is actually very good and always has been, its just not all banging bodies.

So they can utilize and understand Babcock's system for 12 minutes and counting, but not 60?

So it's not Babcock's fault when they play like poop for 45 minutes again, but when they play well, it's all on him? Got it.

There are 2 teams playing. It's not like it's just the leafs and they decide to play and not play and are the only ones determining outcomes

Hopefully we can get some pp chances. That hit on Tavares should have been interference
