I read a good article on the The Athletic today by Bourne. To sum it up: personnel change, coaching changes, plus injuries, means you have to be patient.
Good teams also hang around in games because of talent; again, we lost by a goal and with a few more bounces, some better goaltending, could've been a different outcome.

If you say so.
At some point I stop saying "it's all luck" and just say "good game, well deserved". - Scabeh
I wish I could of said the same for the Leafs 7 years ago |

Nobody plays well vs the Leafs, the Leafs just give them easy wins. According to hockeybuzz.com anyway. |

In January 2016, Randy Carlyle was an ineffective coach that the NHL had passed by, cruising on his reputation from his cup win 8.5 years earlier (2007).
Mike Babcock in November 2019 has not won a cup in 11.5 years. |

The leafs have put in back to back 100+ point seasons.
Quit it with your bull poop this team has shown they can have regular season success. - Santo_44
Their record since last Jan. 1 speaks for itself. Your argument is kinda like a climate change denier. Global warming?? Nahhhhh. |

I thought every team played their best against the Leafs, every player wants to prove they are worthy to skate on the same ice as this “best ever” group....according to Tanner |

Bad coaching. Can’t get his players to buy in to team defence. Took Trotz game 1. - Steven_Seagull
Which one of these guys can you persuade to buy into playing defense?
The few guys that have in the past, the fans want them shipped out because they don't score enough points and their zone entries aren't good enough. |

Yeah I read that too.
Its just frustrating how they are playing, the number of point shots are baffling.
The PP? Wtf is with that.
The Leafs have proved they can be a dominate offensive force 5v5 and on the PP in previous seasons. What is going on? I really cant say. |

That is my point....I guess it flew right past your head.
Again, they have proved how good they can be.
Did they forget how to play? I doubt it...Highly. |

I guess I disagree on the idea that they have proved how good they can be. This team has consistently leaked goals - for years on end. That is what they have consistently proven - that they are not championship calibre in terms of team defense, and they have NEVER proved that can be consistently good in that area. |
