In January 2016, Randy Carlyle was an ineffective coach that the NHL had passed by, cruising on his reputation from his cup win 8.5 years earlier (2007).

Mike Babcock in November 2019 has not won a cup in 11.5 years.

I guess I disagree on the idea that they have proved how good they can be. This team has consistently leaked goals - for years on end. That is what they have consistently proven - that they are not championship calibre in terms of team defense, and they have NEVER proved that can be consistently good in that area.
