I guess I disagree on the idea that they have proved how good they can be. This team has consistently leaked goals - for years on end. That is what they have consistently proven - that they are not championship calibre in terms of team defense, and they have NEVER proved that can be consistently good in that area.

I see you have recency bias.

Blow it up.

And?

That is my point....I guess it flew right past your head.

Again, they have proved how good they can be.

Did they forget how to play? I doubt it...Highly.

- Santo_44

If they haven't quit on Babcock, then they are capable of turning it on. However, if they have turned on Babs, then we could be in for a long year. Who knows how this season plays out.

Recency bias? You tell me when this core group of players has been consistently good defensively.

Leafs lose.. of course UG shows up
- Arctic_AARDVARK

he/it has been here all along...

just comes in different forms.

broken team, no spine, minimal if any push back when confronted with adversity
"stars" playing part time

this team had a better record with Bozak, JvR, Komarov and Gardiner

I can't put my finger on it... what's changed?

They haven't.

They've had a lot of success in the last three years getting wins in the regular season.

This team has the talent and they aren't putting it together.

I think they are talented enough to go all the way to the Cup final. It's tough to get a read on this team right now because of the inconsistencies

Looks like a team to me that has quit on the coach
- Cherry--Skoal

Looks to me like a team that doesn't want to compete to win... they want it easy.

If there was issues between the players and the coach someone would have let something slip out by accident on purpose.

as much as the apologist want to "get rid of Babcock" , because he obviously teaches the players how to do fly-bys effectively, there's no way Shanahan let's Dubas fire Babcock.

Dubas has been given a pretty clean slate to play with.. he's made some good moves, some questionable ones and he has sucked HARD at contract negotiations. And now he sits with the most top heavy roster in the league with what borderline 500 record.

all I can say is if I was the guy responsible for the financials.. I know who I would questioning about return on investment, and what the plans are going forward if things don't improve.

This team needs a new coach and needs to stop playing this stupid puck pressure system that constantly has its defence pinching. Look across the ice at a less-talented team that focuses on defence. All 5 guys are back and they just wait for your mistakes. Less talent+better system=win

Guys, its not that hard. Look at their record since last Jan. 1. It's a large sample size. You are what your record says you are. They are a goal-leaking team that regularly - consistently - does not compete for long stretches of games. That is a factual, day in, day out read on this team for 10 months.
