I don’t think you guys realize how bad I want to see a Cup won in Philadelphia. With this, you have to be willing to objectively criticize the team. I’m proud of where this team is now. We went from renting players to owning them. We never owned Roenick, Forsberg, Briere or Pronger. They were older. Always on borrowed time. We thought we could build around mid first round players like Richards and Carter. They weren’t committed and it didn’t work. Now we have a team, young and we control them for most of their careers. I believe in this. Most of you have to be realistic of what these guys are now, rather than later after the organization already made up their minds about them.

I’m much more proud of this team tonight making a huge push back against a top team, rather than just simple beating a team that clearly didn’t play their best game. Won more. Expect more. I think both sides have a great effort tonight and we hung with Washington.

You learn more from a loss than a win. Right now we’re tied. Let’s go win a hockey game against a team that actually gave it all they’ve got.
