I'm aware of that, but where is the advantage for the NYR? Do they get $100K bonus directly from Gary for placing him on IR the Very(!) last day?
The guys who have him in their fantasy teams (and love him like their son...) CAN'T retro play those 10 games... - VeryModernMan
I'm trying to figure out whether you're saying that should matter to the NYR?? |

I dont know, there are so many channels to choose from nowadays. It would be your choice.
But if you mean how would the Rangers team look without Panarin, who knows, at this point it doesnt matter. He is here, he makes the team better. - Brukie

I don't know. Hischier has already put up 52 and 47 points as an 18-19 year old. Having a slow start this year, but I would be thrilled with any of them - mdw7413
Also that Nolan Patrick pick isn't looking great. |

I think they thought there was a chance he could come back at anytime - jimbo83
Yes, but they can also activate from IR any time, and the minimum IR-time was passed already long ago. I mean, i know they have other preferences like fans and fantasy players , i just wonder where that advantage should be as flexibility is now long gone. |

It's a 35+ contract correct? They are on the books for it either way right? |

Correct. Ilya is owed a bonus next month, not sure how much. After that he earns $700,000 for the remainder of this season. Next year, no bonus just a straight cap hit of $4.65M, I believe. |

That argument is not fair for NJ. They didn't make it back for a second years because they were missing their MVP 1st line player for 40 some odd games. - Tonybere
One player shouldnt make or break a season. The rest of the 19 players on the team has to pick up the slack. |

Georgiev starts tomorrow. Lundqvist Saturday. Fast is OK and will play. Mika is skating on his own, won’t go on the trip and will skate here on his own while the team is away.

Oh, also, DQ says he’s thinking of moving Kakko up in the lineup. |

So you are saying that hockey, being a team sport, relies on one player to make or break the season? |

No. I'm saying that missing far and away your best player can sink your season.

Disagree. I think they get a taste it makes them come together and play even harder the next year.imo - mdw7413
If it didn't get them pumped up for the following season, wouldn't you question their character/compete level? I don't see how making the playoffs would ever be bad for development.
Bottom line, the only negative from making the playoffs, especially with a young team, would be not having a higher draft pick. And, frankly, even that is debatable.
Give me a break with this stupid idea that making the playoffs would be bad for the young guys |

would you guys do this trade of Brendan Smith for Ilya Kovalchuk?
Kings retain 2 million of Kovalchuk's cap hit
they both have two years left on their deals
basically the money would stay the same as it is now, Rangers on the hook for like a 4.2 million cap hit, Kings still on hook for total of 6.2 million hit |
