We aren't supposed to be good this year, so this isnt news if they want to go off fancy stats. All I care about is the young guys getting better. In 2 years this will be a different conversation

As a fan, all I'm expecting this season is excitement. If the games are exciting, that means the team is moving in the right direction (goals scored, competitive nature, etc.). Anything past this is a bonus.

Up to this point, they've been a fun team to watch!

Yeah, if they did make it I would be pleasantly surprised. Now next year they better be in it. I always said I would be happy with the rebuild by getting back in the playoffs for the 2020-21 season

I think the problem with them making the playoffs this year is some of the traditional door mats have gotten a lot better, while the traditional powers from the last several years, who are getting older, haven't quite dropped of yet. It's probably a long shot, but there is no harm in watching the games and hoping that they can exceed expectations.

Batting .500 is pretty good IMHO

Pittsburgh may be without Crosby for awhile and that certainly hurts them and takes them out of a shoo-in playoff team

Oh yeah, definitely. I don't care how bad they are I will always root for them. If I made it through the late 90's early 2000's rooting for them, I can certainly do it through a rebuild

Winning a few games in the beginning of the season is sweet but the reality is these kids havent played more than 4 games in a season ever, against men. Last season they stated out well and hit the skids in late November. They will probably wear down and sometime in Jan and February have a stat pack of 7 wins in 19 games. It will be an up and down season for sure. The team defense is ridiculously young and Brady is a train wreck. Aside from Staal and Brady the defense looks like they have a bright future. Nobody should want to make the playoffs now. We are rebuilding. They will go nowhere if they make the playoffs. I dont want to hear about St Louis. St Louis had a good team on paper, they just didnt have a goalie who could stop a puck. Once they brought up Binnington and he started to make saves, they won. Different situation here.
