Pluses:
1. win....2 points....huge!
2. Kane-Strome-DCat.....on fire!
3. I have found Seabrook's play much better since the 2 game benching.
4. Comeback. Old Cup teams were like that. Never out. Well done.
5. Crawford. Solid effort!
Minuses:
1. Slow start...again....Be nice to get up 2 or 3 early more often.
2. Too many shots against again. Gonna take time, but HAVE to bring that down.
3. Turnovers. Need a little more smart play with the puck. Again, may take time...
4-1-1 the last 6. Bring on Nashville! |

Another 50 SOG against game. Awesome.
Vegas will reduce the Hawks to zero energy by the end of the second, followed by a third period penalty fest.

Sorry, complaint department closed on account of a win. - mohel
When has that ever stopped anyone here?
Dvr'd the third, so going to check that out here in a bit. Nice pushback after going down 2 and finally getting the Vegas monkey off their back.

I'm so happy we beat Vegas, it feels like the best victory, so far. The team that has been around the shortest amount of time, & we could never beat. Next up, Trashville. |

Vegas is old news now. They are not the cute "new" toy anymore. Bettman grooming Seattle to be the new shiny toy. |

This team isn't a contender, but this team IS a playoff team.
Elite goaltending. The hawks might have the best dynamic duo in hockey. 9 out of the last 10 points. |

Good morning Hawks fans. Great game last night and Chicago seems to be on a winning streak.
Looks like the coaching staff finally woke up to the reality that the system they had been using was garbage and hurting the teams star players and offense.
Corey played a solid game , it was a interesting bit of information regarding him and fluery being drafted at the same time in the 03 draft .
Imo Chicago started the game not fully engaged and I believe that call no goal after being down 2-0 was a wakeup moment.
Just curious if anyone knows the answer to this question regarding boqvist contract
Boqvist contract will count if he plays more than 9 games , the game that boqvist and Dach sat out does that game count toward the 9 games even though he sat out or not ?

We are starting to see more of an impact of the moves Stan made in the off season.
Lehner, DeHaan, Maatta, Carpenter, Kubalik, Dach, and even Smith. Nylander & Shaw have show flashes and could get it going.
Compare that to last year. Kruger, Kunitz, Hayden, Perlini, Forsling, Ward, Manning, Fortin, Martinsen, Davidson, Johnson, Delia.
Also
Kampf looks better playing with something better than AHL wingers.
Seabs looks better playing with experienced NHL defenders.
This team still has issues and question marks, but saying they could be a playoff team is no longer laughable.

Probably immaterial about Boqvist. Even if he is sent down when Murphy comes back, I still think he comes back at some point in the season and plays more than 9 games. |

How many times over the years have people said a team has it all except goaltending and that team can't win in the playoffs. This year looks like it's going to be an adventure, but if nothing else they have goaltending. And at least that should give them some options later in the year if they look like they are out of the playoffs. And a fighting chance if they do. Anyway, last night was very entertaining and that's appreciated even if it's only one game. Hopefully Nashville goes better than it has recently. |

Oh my, back to conspiracy theories. On another note I think I found the warehouse NASA used to stage the moon landing. The place is called Noble Moori ngs. Snaeaky NASA used a warehouse in Canada to throw everyone off the scent. |

One thing impressive about last nite was that they scored early (a first period goal), in the stream of the game (2 in the second), and late (2 in the third). That hasn’t been apparent recently.
And that they didn’t allow VGK to score fro early in the first until late in the third. Crawford, yeah, but with giving up a lot of SAT/SOG, they seemed to clear the area around Crawford fairly well.
TWO impressive things....
And they got depth scoring - Dach, two defensemen.
THREE impressive things.... |

Ha! How nationalistic of you and I'm sure you'd like to claim that as your own. The moon landing was faked on good ole' US of A soil.
Back then they weren't using Vancouver and other foreign locales to double as US cities so there's no way they were faking the lunar landscape in the Great White North back then! |

Not perfect but quite improved. Solid game by Crawford.
De Haan is a rock in his own zone. Zac Smith is slow but in a heavy game he can do some valuable things on the walls. - RickJ
De Haan has always been a solid money in the bank player. No nonsense, reliable, old school, north/south type who is showing me some offensive IQ. Watching him closely he gets a lot of shots off from the point but a lot get blocked below the dots. If he gets some of these thru he'll be even more valuable. ......... His pinches seem right many more times than not.
But his biggest value so far is making Seabs less a liability. Smart move to pair him with Seabs.
Hawks were again brutalized in corsi but again despite that they were near even in high danger for and against. It was 14-13 Vegas despite the shot total at 5 on 5 being 33-25. So at 5 on 5 the Hawks SOG differential wasn't as bad being a -8. IIRC they had more HDSF than Toronto and were -1 vs Vegas. The formula seems to be working and bought into. You'll get more shots off than we will, our goalie will be better than yours and we'll go even in high danger shots but our finishers will be better than yours and again our goalie better than yours..........
My biggest takeaway was the 3rd period. Up 2 they stayed on the gas and outshot em 9-8 allowing 1 high danger shot while taking 4. Showed this is a confident team that has all hands on deck. Would have been easy to keep 4 guys behind the puck trying to protect a 2 goal 3rd period lead and hope for the best but they stayed with the "system" and they played to win, went for the throat and were rewarded.
Funny how a guy on the bench who can play pushes an athlete. Lehner has brought the very best out of Crow who the past three games coming in had a 2.62 GAA and a SV% of .929............ Best we've seen Crow in a long time. |

Well, that was interesting. The Hawks certainly can score with anyone, but I'd still like to see them clean up the 'interesting' way they manage the puck.
Not sure if these numbers are sustainable, but it's fun while it lasts. (from Natural Stat Trick, all situations)
Corsi. LV 72 - CHI 44
Scoring Chances LV 36 - CHI 23
High Danger SC LV 21 - CHI 15
Hawks lost the game at the UC when they outplayed LV, because MAF stood on his head, and they won the game in LV where CC did the same. |

not the same position as Dach...bokie's contract already "slid" one year...he is now in year 1...the 9 game thing does not come into play. |
