Watched the game from last night my god are the hawks dreadful at defense. Turnovers missed assignments out of position and being out muscled for the majority of the game. Hawks got lucky to win that game. Another 30 plus shots again and least 15 high danger shots against. Also hawks are soft as charmin tp my god dach better stop putting himself in bad situations or will be on ir soon. No physicality to their game. I ll stop now.
- Scott1977

I must have had a different feed out here in LA,mentioned earlier in the blog that I thought the bottom 6 has become real tough to play against.

BTW, the Hawks are third in the league in Hits Per Game., so does that make the rest of the league softer?

I agree with you on Dach, he is playing with men now, he is not the biggest kid in the room anymore.

Agree here but it's doable. If we had a Lehner last year we might have won 5-6 more games, enough to make the big dance.
- Popsghostly

I sure hope you're correct on the doable part. I like the way that JC keeps both of them "fresh."

Dots, beating MAF high glove with those snipes were really nice. I don't think there's a goaltender who could have stopped those. Those are hard shots to stop.

Then i guess Vegas must be really bad at putting the puck in the net. If you do this better than your opponent you will win most nights, that Kane Cat Strome line is humming, what line is humming for Vegas? Nada, i go back to what i said some time ago, it doesn't matter how many shots they get it matters who gets them and if there is a defender in the picture, that net gets a lot smaller

We've gotten some amazing goaltending from both of our netminders ... but is it a trend that can stay as lights out as it has been? Don't get me wrong, I'm cheering the loudest at these victories & points we're collecting. It just doesn't seem sustainable to me. The shots against need to go down, & both guys need to stay sharp & healthy.
- I Am The Breadman

Is it sustainable for the NYI, CGY, EDM? They all have a sub 50% Corsi. I know that it is desirable for less shots to be fired at our goalies, but outside of two whippings when they we still struggling with the system, they have been getting just almost as many good chances against as the opposition.

There are many different ways to win in hockey. NYI have a worse Corsi than we do and they're 9-0-1 in their last 10 and are considered a good defensive team. We have a better GA/G than MTL, NSH, FLA (who some people are enamored with). It is not perfect, but we can play winning hockey this way as long as they keep the mistakes to a minimum and away from the blue lines.

Both the Caps and Pens won cups with sub-50% Corsi ad HDGF%. Like virtually every other champ, they got outstanding goaltending and scored a lot of goals.

Preds took 50 shots and every single goal had to be scored by a man in front of the net, how's that possible, last night a breakaway, traffic deflects off forward and in, and 6 on 5 goal, how's that possible that all these shots again aren't going in, unsustainable

Honestly the 5 weak back handed shot on goals the Knights had last night shouldn't even count as a SOG

How can you possibly make that claim? This implies they willfully stopped playing to win to send a message to their coach? Professional, highly paid and competitive "employees" quit? I guess the goalies didn't get the lets' quit on JC memo. A couple of really bad games (preds and sharks) and you nor anybody else this far away from the team can make such an assertion. Pure speculative BS!

Yes I'm am very clear with my statement as well as my own 2 pair of eyes .

Not sure if you bothered to read all the articles written about JC in a negative light or the article which JC clearly came out and said he and his staff on a daily basis come up with new lines to throw together.

JC recently commented in a article they changed up their system .
It was obvious and painful to watch post game show press conferences and the players expressions, lack of emotions, frustrations and comments.

Look at the dumb line combinations JC was throwing together and the daily line changes.

It's one thing for toews to be in a drought it's not like toews is a true scorer, but kane amd cat ?

When the goalie is in that deep and now has to slide over instead of come out that's 4 feet of space both dman have, if i have my dman cheating i want them cheating right down Broadway

To me it's protecting the puck in the defensive/neutral zone and Murphy.

I do, in the old days, Bovquist penalty would not be a penalty, Strome's slashing penalties 2 games ago were not even thought of as any kind of infraction., etc. etc.

Sure the Cougars games were fun. Loyola basketball in the mid 80s was my last memory of the Amp.

Once he got to Chicago, he was never the big time scorer I was expecting him to be, but he exceeded, by leaps and bounds, my expectations for every other aspect of the game. The ultimate 200 ft player.

You must be referring to #2 allowing his man to camp out untouched right in front of him and the Hawks'net and score the first goal with that tip in. Or perhaps you mean #2 getting burned on that 2 on 2 which allowed vegas to have that breakaway resulting in their second goal. Or the bad decision by #2 to pinch at the Hawks' offensive blue line, resulting in a near goal that I believe clanged off the cross bar.

You know what i like about the Kane, Strome, Cat line, there is no forward you can key on because they can all put it in the back of the net, that pass by Strome to Kane was a thing of beauty, best chance of stopping them is keeping possession of the puck

Nylander - Dach - ???

Would be a great 3rd Line with the right partner. Someone who can be creative and score goals.

- gifman

I would put Kubalik as RW on that line. He forechecks/back checks well and has above average speed, and with Dach & Nylander being good puck handlers & play making ability... .Kubalik’s shot would benefit.
