This is his junior year signing with the hawks or go back for his senior year. - Abadseed
Mitchell said he’d be singing with the Hawks after this college season is over. |

I believe that Bowman will consider trading prospects and a high draft choice for something of little value - like a late future draft pick if Seattle takes Seabrook. I do not think they would go this route with Keith. Seattle is going to be able.to hold many teams hostage with a precarious position NHL teams face. At this moment iexpect that Seattle might be capable of outshing the results Vegas attained..it will be a buyers market - jhawk59
Unless Stan gets Seabrook to waive the NMC, which Stan gave him, he can’t be exposed to the expansion draft. |

I am still not sold Mitchell will sign. Keep in mind if Denver makes the frozen 4 he will miss the end of the regular season. - riozzo
Fine with me if DU makes the Frozen Four and he doesn't get a taste of the NHL in the spring. That way he won't burn a year of his ELC. |

Looking back on it trading Kempny for a 3rd round draft pick was rather dumb. He’s pretty damn good, and after the trade he instantly went on to win a Stanley Cup and become a key cog on the Capitals top D pair along with Carlson. |

He couldn't play for the HOF coach Q.
As a matter of fact, except for the 4 horseman, no defenseman seemed to be able to play for Q[/img] |

Very frustrating. I believe he’s got 11 pts in 11 games so far this season after missing the first few games. Gave up on him WAAAAAAY too soon.

He does make a good point though(feels weird saying that about him lol). If we end up sucking/tanking our way to one of the leagues worst records again(which is very possible)....and end up drafting top 5(or even higher)....we’ll be LOADED when it comes to young talent to form a new core/new era of Hawks hockey to play alongside the aging vets Kane and Toews.
Add another top 5 pick to Strome, DeBrincat, Dach, Nylander, Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, etc....Perfect way to start from scratch and build a contender. |

What's up with all the hate for Koekkoek? He's better than many of the defensemen in the league, and certainly on this team.
CF 53.05%; SCF 49.06%; HDCF 45.10%; OffZnStarts 38.89%; xGF 53.43%
As I recall, his underlying numbers were above water last season too, in limited playing time. He's better than some 3rd pair guys that played on the Hawk Stanley Cup teams. - scottak
It's not hate, he belongs in the AHL, he's not very good without the puck |

Per Laz:
Slater Koekkoek (healthy) and Drake Caggiula (sick) are scratches tonight.
Also, it looks like Corey is starting tonight. Maybe giving Lehner some more time to recover from the collarbone shot he took? - Chunk
Or maybe going against the grain, every time he plays the winning goalie they lose the next game. |

SJ, I’m going to agree with you on this post. We are in a win/win, we play well and we may get into playoffs, we suck and we add a good prospect to our good young nucleus. That being said I’d bet my first born we don’t finish last in West. |

? Daley had a nice playoff run but was never a top paring Dman and was also a train wreck in his own end. And he was already well into his 30’s/past his prime.
Not a good comparison. |

Exactly! And yeah I doubt we finish dead last as long as the Wild and Kings exist. |

You can blame the NHLPA for that one. They could have exited out of the bargaining agreement which would have then ended in 2020. This would have allowed the athletes a say in the nhl expansion but more importantly would have afforded the Hawks with one of the those wonderful buyouts without a cap hit.
Of course I’m assuming the buyout would be part of the next agreement as it has been the last one. We have to wait till 2022 now. |

the leafs sure remind me of the hawks:
once again vs the isles they fall behind 2 zip and 5-2 and then rally hard in the 3rd get the 6v5 goal gain to make it 5-4 with 37 seconds but lose 5-4...
defense and goaltending were going to be there problem...and with a 50 million top 5 they need to score early and often to win...
oh BTW leafs had 32 sog's tonight no 57. |

Yup, one 1st ballot HOFer, one borderline HOF, one of the best defensive defensemen in franchise history, and a very under rated puck mover. Name another team in the last 10 years that had 4 that were better. |

I don’t get what you’re arguing here? That 33(at the time) year old defensively inept Trevor Daley is the same as 26(at the time) year old Michal Kempny? That Daley was a top pairing defenseman? Maybe when Letang was injured...but not typically. I think a lot of his minutes came on the PP too. For the most part when healthy their top pair was Letang-Dumoulin.
I didn’t mind dumping Daley at the time, but taking on Scuderi was ASININE. |

The last compliance buyouts after 2013 were to help teams become compliant after the cap dropped by something approaching $10MM.
That won’t be the case next time - so no compliance buyouts. |

Nashville’s top 4 with Josi-Subban and Ekholm-Ellis probably on that level. |
