The only way I'd consider moving for Kovy is if JJ goes the other way, but there would be more to that deal on both sides obviously. - Rinosaur
Wait, Kovalchuk is still in the league? |

Yeah, I was shocked as well. |

Not sure what Kessel would bring to the team this year. Especially if he isn't playing with Crosby (injured) or Malkin (didn't want to play with him).
He stands out on the Coyotes as a minus player with negative expected goal differential, and giveaway machine. He is being fed offensive zone starts, all the power play time and on the top line and cannot produce.
It is naïve to think that he would be doing any different for the Pens. Certainly is not playing like a point a game player anymore to put the Pens on his shoulders during a wave of injuries.
Great corsi though. Pens have lost so many games this year because they've been out corsi'd

He's currently on pace for a 43 point season as well.
I liked the Phil and would of rather kept him but this years edition of the Pens is playing a much better brand of hockey than last year with him...despite the major injuries.
So the PP is the only thing Im really missing him for right now. |

That will make a difference, but I still think the Pens should take advantage of the LTIR space and get a top rental then worry about moving either Galchenyuk or Bjugstad when Sid is healthy. - Rinosaur
If you use LTIR space, you can't bank space for the trade deadline, when there will likely be more options. Just something to consider.
EDIT- capfriendly as us at 9.6M deadline space currently. We may cut into that by adding another player, but we really mess it up by tapping into LTIR, which is why teams avoid it if possible. |

Yea, only player I'd jump the gun for right at this moment would be Hall, no one else would move the needle enough with Sid out. |

Not to be dramatic, but depending on how well they play without Sid by the time the trade deadline it may not make a difference for the Pens. |

If he does get surgery I would wait and see if the Pens hold down a decent record before trading away any current roster player to pick up a Crosby placeholder. Unless of course s great deal fell into gmjr lap that would not have cap implications once Sid came back. |

Unless they are gonna flip flop say Galch for Toffoli literally would do nothing other than get Hall right now. They are playing good. |

Exactly, unless you can get Hall right now, or a simple flip of Galch for around the same money and also a UFA player. |

Hall is a pipe dream. There are teams that will easily outbid the Penguins for him |

Agree and I don't think Hall is available yet.
And even if there is someone who could help, probably best to not overextended cap space to the point you have to dump salary to activate Crosby and every other team knows it. It's not like there are an abundance of places to just dump salary. |

I would circle back around to Minnesota about Zucker at this point, I’m sure a lot of players are going to become available there. |

I don't mind making a trade if one makes sense, but I wouldn't try to max out LTIR space and just assume you can dump salary in a month. |

Galchenyuk-Malkin-Rust
Guentzel-McCann-Kahun
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev
Simon-Bjugstad-Lafferty
Might as well call Malkin and Blueger's lines what they actually are right now.
I wanted to play McCann with Malkin more, but I feel better about him centering a scoring line than Bjugstad, so I give Galchenyuk another chance instead.
At this point, the Bjugstad line is the 4th line and whatever parts are left. Might change if Hornqvist returns and Simon-Bjugstad-Hornqvist can recapture last year's chemistry. |

I like that, maybe playing 4th line will get Bjugstad going. Speaking of, another guy we could flip flop for a similar deal with another player struggling on their team. |

Galchenyuk hasn’t done Richard. With Sid likely gone for a while, Jake should be with Geno. I don’t agree with the logic not to do it because it’s not permanent.
They need the best lines and possible. Maybe Galchenyuk in a lesser role will help him get started. |

So Tojo's lines except Guentzel 1st line, Simon 2nd line and Galch on the 4th. That be crazy if Galch and Bjugstad formed chemistry |
