My priority list would be Zucker then Toffoli.

Why do you want 40 point players?

Because Galchenyuk won’t get 20 points.

If he doesn’t score them here then who gives a poop.

Edit: He’s on pace for 24 points. IMO you give him 15 games to show something and if he doesn’t you give him the Tanner Pearson treatment.

Galch missed most of training camp and preseason plus half the games of this season. I'm not ready to trade him yet. Plus the team is playing pretty f'n solid despite the constant revolving door of players injured, lines shuffling and him only having 3 A's in 9 games.

Other notable mid to high level wingers that didnt perform to expectation at first with Pens:

Kessel: 59 points in 82 games...lowest production of his career.

Neal: 6 points in 20 games.

I'm willing to be much more patient.

I’m concerned about their lack of 1st period anything. It’s been goin on all season. I know Sully cancels morning skates for like every game, could that be a reason they come out flat?

Phil fit well on this team. Also, Phil started off slow most of his first season with the Pens.

I got one in college which I aggravated in training camp and decided to play through it. In hindsight I definitely should’ve gotten the surgery. It got worse before it got better. I couldn’t skate or ride the bike or really anything for two weeks and then when I could play again it wasn’t comfortable and my balance was compromised.

Recovery (without painkillers) was about 4 weeks but I didn’t skate until 6 weeks since the season was already over. Not only was I fine to start the next season my groin on that side didn’t pull anymore! Crosby is a different animal but I’d rather see him at 100%. Use the LTIR space if we can

Yeah its a pretty crazy trend they're in...if they werent in this trend the comebacks most likely wouldnt even be necessary. Its like it takes them a period to get their sh!t together haha. Still though, I love the way they've been battling back. I just didnt see that fight back last year at all. They cant keep it up though because they wont always be able to come back and every single point matters.

I didn’t think Sid looked right the last half-dozen games or so before he went out.

Do the procedure, come back healthy, be in the lineup come 2020.

- Za Warudo

I thought it was obvious too. He didn’t look motivated, no pep in his step. Now we know why

Ask WSCteton. He had Galchenyuk getting like 65 points this season lol.
- Feds91Stammer

Your sources (yourself) haven’t been very good lately. It’s Sid’s knee? Good one

I stand by my statements and I discuss where I’m wrong often. I said 55 points for Galchenyuk, as many as 65 if he were stapled in the top 6. It hasn’t panned out but not for lack of trying and I’ve been here criticizing him. He’s been over supporting his centers and it makes him easy to cover instead of hitting open areas like Jake does so well. So far I’ve been wrong about Galchenyuk, he’s still been fun to watch though. He ripped that one off the bar not long ago and he’s gotten a number of breakaways

That's completely fair.

Many of us didn't see him as a fit to start with, so we're inclined to believe his East-West game, poor possession metrics, and lack of ES scoring history just weren't a good fit.

Still, it deserves a little more time until declared a failure. Kahun is a good example. I just didn't have a lot of faith in him to start, at least as a fit here.

Thats all very true and the many of you could be very right. I just think with the team performing relatively well, despite all the adversity and keeping in mind his health misfortunes since September, I see no rush to rid of him or to shake up the roster/locker room at all. I see his skill when he's on the ice but it just he's looks lost in the system. I'd give him until Christmas.

Having said all of this if JR traded him I wouldn't bat a lash or lose a wink of sleep haha.

I doubt it. Simon is also a more well-rounded player with better puck skills.

Won’t be necessary. He’s being released apparently. So unless a team has to honor his contract details he probably will he had for cheap, that is if he stays in the NHL.

The Kessel trade was more about

1) Getting Kessel off the team
2) Getting a young cost controlled player (POJ)
3) Clearing Capspace for this summer while getting a servicable player in return

Kessel was always going to handcuff the return because of his NTC, I'm glad that 6.8 is off the books for the next 3 seasons and we didn't have to take on a guy with term. He looks terrible and is probably on the downslide

The high energy way the team plays now does not compute with having a sloth like Kessel still on the roster

I didnt even know releasing was a thing in the NHL haha....I cant recall other releases, can you?

Its one of the things I really respect about the NFL...that they can just cut a player from the team any time they want. I think it should be like this in all sports because I believe the team/player to be employer/employee.
