Toffoli would be an ok pick up if the price is right. He wouldn't really fix the PP or anything like that, but he'd be a decent top 6 wing that fits the system and could score 20 goals. - Tojo.
The hell with the PP. Ghostchenyuk isn’t doing Richard. They need a top six winger who can produce, especially with Sid likely out the remainder of the calendar year.
I’d look to MIN though and try to snag Zucker. |

I'd like Zucker. I just haven't read anything about Guerin moving anyone really. He's still evaluating what he has.
I hear what you're saying about Crosby, I just don't think there are any good targets available right now. |

I normally would be more patient about Chuk, but given the Pens situation this stretch could make or break them. They need a top six winger who can help right now.
It’s incumbent upon JR to seek out options. Hopefully he’s doing something. |

He is definitely doing something. They likely already have a deal done with Pettersson too so he has a very strong idea of what the cap will look like next summer. |

Funny how we miss Kessel and his crappy defense while he scores 10 points in 19 games for 6.8 million, but Kovalchucks 9 points in 17 games and crappy defense for 6.25 million is a definite no go |

If Simon was glued back on Crosby’s jock and Galchenyuk played 3rd line yes I’d agree. |

Simon will have at least 10 more points than Galchenyuk. The dude looks completely lost. - burgh4life87
I think he looks like a guy whose about 10 games behind his peers, however with the puck in scoring position he looks like a guy that knows what to do with it. |

The only time I miss Kessel is when they're on the PP. I had no problem moving on from him, but Galchenyuk was a poor replacement and Guentzel doesn't do what either Kessel or Hornqvist do.
Also hasn't helped that the other members of the top PP have all missed time. |

Galchenyuk hasn’t looked like he knows how to much of anything besides skating around aimlessly. |

Just read about the Flyers start, their best in years. I recall a number of people saying they were going to be garbage. Reminded me of RW and his take on the Rags who are now 4-1-1 in their last 6? Or maybe it’s 5-1-1, I can’t remember. Flyers are 10-5-2 and have won 4 straight |

Him and Bjug are total disappointments. At least Galch occasionally finds himself in scoring situations.....he doesn't shoot, but he gets there. |

If he doesn’t score them here then who gives a poop.
Edit: He’s on pace for 24 points. IMO you give him 15 games to show something and if he doesn’t you give him the Tanner Pearson treatment. - Rinosaur
What do you mean? By trading him for a worse contract? Lol
I’d move Galchenyuk on a deal for Zucker in a heart beat. Perhaps would try something for Kovalchuk. |

The Kessel trade was more about
1) Getting Kessel off the team
2) Getting a young cost controlled player (POJ)
3) Clearing Capspace for this summer while getting a servicable player in return
Kessel was always going to handcuff the return because of his NTC, I'm glad that 6.8 is off the books for the next 3 seasons and we didn't have to take on a guy with term. He looks terrible and is probably on the downslide
The high energy way the team plays now does not compute with having a sloth like Kessel still on the roster - TheGame316

I don't miss Kessel. I think he is being used as a convenient excuse for how bad the PP is. I would instead look at the coaching and the attitude / execution of the players. The Pens seem to be content to pass it around the perimeter, looking for the perfect set-up that never happens, until they turn it over. Successful PPs park a guy in front of the goalie and fire from the point or the high slot. Screen, deflect, get rebounds. It's pretty simple.
The Pens fall into this trap of always looking for the perfect tic-tac-toe play that rarely happens. This is also true on 5v5. |

You could have 66 and 99 on your top power play and they should still just be looking to get shots through and bang in rebounds. |

Nah not really, perhaps in other season, but so far this season they're more about shot attempts than the perfect plays to my eyes.
EDIT: Yup, just checked it out. Last season they were 26th overall in shot attempts and so far this season they are 4th. |

So far the Pens are:
Shot attempts: 4th
xGF%: 2nd
HDSC%: 2nd
CF%: 2nd
PDO: 16th (1.007)
All of this with one of the worst producing PP's they've had in over a decade.
I hope they can keep up the good play without Sid. |

Top story in my FB news feed just now:
INJURY UPDATE: Sidney Crosby underwent a successful core muscle injury repair. The expected recovery time is a minimum of six weeks.
Well...at least he's going to be well rested later in the season... |

If this is true then it's going to be interesting to see what the Pens choose to do, if anything, over the next week or so.
EDIT: Molinari just confirmed it. |

I think they shuold hold tight and see how it all looks. They survived 4 and 5 of the top 9 forwards out for games. Sid didnt pay last game and the Pens were the superior playing team the last 2 periods of the game. |
