How is that “top heavy”?

no narratives on a simple add on supporting observation to a post. Top heavy is reference to talent and roles. Are you okay or just looking to mess around?

Thinking on an earlier post that Bo & Gaudette could use a playmaking winger raises a few questions.

1st off it makes sense.
2nd it usually tends to be a soft winger
3rd any of our prospects fit the bill?
4th i like my C’s to be the playmakers
5th Bo & Gaudette can round out better
Lastly JTM 2.0 works for me

Still comes back to building lines with pairs & a 3rd wheel. We are getting closer but work to do.

Pettersson was stuck with this dude at the end of last season when he “hit the rookie wall” & requested a legit winger in his exit interview. (I’m just going to assume that exit interview story/rumour is true because Leivo can’t hang on that line. Petey and Boeser will still find ways to produce, but they’d be limited by that calibre of linemate.)

I liked what I saw (chemistry potential wise) from JTM & Sven. Bo was kind of lost between them, but those two clicked. I also think it’s dumb to have two of our best faceoff guys playing together just because Bo needs an offensive boost 5v5. JTM should either be back with Pettersson or playing with Gaudette to take draws when necessary. When Ferland’s back, I wouldn’t mind seeing him get another real shot on the top line. Since I believe Gaudette’s skillset ceiling is top 6/2C & he’s a more compatible option for top 6 linemates (taking JTM faceoff support into account), this would be my preference:

I could give those lines a whirl but not sold on Sven producing. Gaudette could be a 2C when more experienced & has the right wingers. As for Leivo with Petey i want another look at that & if he works out it helps depth for 3 lines. With Pod Hoagie Lind Madden in the pipeline we look pretty solid for top 9 for awhile. An elite game breaker is JB’s next wish. On D be best to replace the inevitable of Edler & Tanev phasing out in due time. On that note I’ll give in to BPA at any position that is elite.

Honestly, I hate the Leafs, but, John Tavares is a great player and by all indications a good person. So the Islanders are butt-hurt he left, big deal, he’s still a great player.

On a side note, if the Leafs could play as a team like the Islanders do they’d be a lot better off.

That is the problem with drafting me first players and then signing them to ridiculous salaries right after their ELC. Hard to coach guys that already know everything.

I don't want to say "noticeable" difference between the team is different when Sutter isn't in the line up.

He's only on pace for 33 points this season. He is a 4th liner who can't stay healthy and probably not worth it to keep around but I wouldn't pay for someone to take him.

He is getting sheltered minutes though. He is not up against the top lines yet. He will get there . I think last game he played 12 minutes only while Bo played 27.

Some creative juggling will need to take place with Beagle and Sutter out but this is actually a good test for the club right now. Gaudette looks to be that depth guy that can step up. No way Bo can keep playing 27 mins per game lol
