I saw a different Gostisbehere. Again, I saw progress in getting back to where he was. He battled hard in the corners, he cut some pucks in the neutral zone. The move to split the defense and go right up the middle for a prime scoring chance was vintage Gostisbehere. No reason at all to sit him a game.

That's what I saw too. He actually looked pretty good in the d zone. The offense will come.

Ghost has been decent on the D side and is showing some of his old moves, with Sanheim and Myers playing well, it bodes well for the D as a whole.

Nisk had a great game, he brings something that the Flyers just didn’t have.

Braun, tough minutes, definitely the 6th D but he is a vet and plays that way, knows his role, best 6th flyers have had in a while.

I think Hayes and JVR will find points, some of it is everyone finding their spot within AV’s system, that is a good thing.

They have a coach who is the HMFIC, that seems obvious AND IS A GOOD THING

So based on one shot that he didn't get a lot on, you think he should sit. Here is a tell tale clue. The coach had Gostisbehere out there on a regular shift, late in the 3rd period of a 1-1 tie against the top team in the league. Does that point to a player that needs to sit a game?
- MJL

Yes...I said it was based on one shot alone. That is exactly what I said.

It was in your elaboration of your opinion. Whether it was that or anything else, I don't see it. Again, the tell tale sign is the trust the coach had in him late in the game. The coach is on record as having shortened the bench.

JVR and Hayes are fighting it a bit, so maybe putting them together for a bit gives them a common goal and rallying cry. They are closest to each other off the ice as well so maybe that creates a united front and they both start clicking. Him and Jake just don't seem on the same page and Carson isnt enough of a offensive mindset to get where Hayes wants him to be.

I'm not at the point where he's on yet, but they've said it was a great interview. I've liked pretty much every interview they've done. I love hearing the stories and behind the scenes stuff. It's so interesting to me.

I give the coaching staff credit for reducing his minutes as the season has gone on, rather than just riding a somewhat struggling vet into the ground.

A large factor in that is the emergence of the Sanheim/Myers pairing. Without that, Braun's ice time would likely be higher.

Provorov-Niskanen reminds me of Hak's top pairing of Provorov-MacDonald in 16-17. Except that Niskanen doesn't suck.

Brutal first period, but a very good effort and game the rest of the way. Well deserved point against a damn tough opponent.

One thing that was very noticeable was how early AV shortened the bench. I understand 81 and 10 riding the pine, but I was surprised by how early Farabee got cut off since he has shown such a strong 2 way game. Would have loved to see him out there in the final 10 minutes with fresh legs.

Not there either, but their comments got me excited for it! Love their podcast in general as well. They do a great job with guest selections

Did anyone else think the commentators last night wrote the flyers off as soon as the caps scored the first goal. Multiple references about them being a fine oiled machine and the flyers being younger. While I’m not saying it’s all wrong just thought it was interesting. When they got their first power play it was like they had the fore gone conclusion that they were gonna rack up the score. Yeah well. Linblom is a puck retrieving beast.

Farabee was a little overmatched out there. Part of the growing pains.

That's the easy narrative, I guess.

Has it been confirmed that Farabee was benched or did he in fact get hurt on the play where the puck hit his wrist?

Vignaeult said Farabee's ready to go for Friday night. I think he was just shortening the bench in the third period.

I dunno, maybe they did expect them to win. But one of them said the flyers seemed jittery/jumpy in the first. I think that was pretty accurate, especially with the way the rest of the game went. After the first period they settled in and they were much better.

Agreed as the version I saw of Ghost last night was encouraging.

The whole team passed up shots they should have taken just about.
Beyond that I saw a couple of "Ghost moves" that reminded me of how he used to play.
I can also think of multiple plays where he drove hard into corners defensively to try and prevent the Caps from getting out.

He had a bad game, wouldn't be surprised if it was just benched. AV seems to always have a pulse on the lineup, those in game adjustments worked well.

Cool, thanks for that as I missed the AV part.

TBH , I dont have an issue with the shorter bench last night and ideally it lights a fire under 49.

It's damn exciting to have a coach like AV and a coaching staff with the credentials this team currently has.

Totally agree with this!

Not understanding people not noticing how much Ghost's game has improved lately. These last 10 games he seems to get more confident and more capable each period.

His defense has been reliable, rarely making any noticeable mistakes in coverage. And his puck handling has been phenomenal in the last 2 weeks, creating chances off the rush, saving neutral zone breakdowns, handling tough passes on the breakout.

I don't want to get too overzealous, but I think we might have old Ghost back

Well, I did say that he was horrible, played poorly, was a defensive disaster, and couldn't handle the puck to save his life.[/sarcasm]

I said that he seems to lack confidence when given the opportunity to shoot but that he hasn't been bad overall. I don't get how this turns into me saying he's bad, since I explicitly stated "Ghost didn't have a bad game."
