Trust me, if there is a team that has the talent to turn it around, its the leafs. but some changes might need to be kade, ( my thinking its systems, not personell wholly)
I'm more pissed to see these highly lauded insiders and pros do the backstep and head scratch to something that so many people could say from day one of this year...
I said matthews was proabbly a terrible leader and has a thin backbone and ate crow. I got roasted...
You still want that guy as captain after seeing his 20 games so far this year? Hell to the no!
Objectivity will give you less heart ache and anger if we practice it more. Hearing all the pros say matthews should be captain... was hard to listen to. Once they commit to a narrative, its god damn nearly impossible for them to change their tune. They'll argue it to death at the expense of looking silly for it. Frustrating to have to be subjected to it... - munky123
My interest level in who wears the C is about as low as you will find.
I dont care about that poop.
Matthews (and Nylander) to me are the only ones who are consistent and actually leading this team.
i have no insight into what happens in the room and I dont really care. I find fans read far to much info small glimpses of Players personalities and make huge assumptions about character and whatever. I have no time for that
I also rarely watch the talking heads. I like Bob Mac...and the rest are pretty far behind

I really do not get this comment.
you get it all with the Leafs..both sides...all the time. - senstroll
All weve heard for years when the "pros" analyse the habs...
"its carey price or this team will not go far" "they cant score" this kind of team is not sustainable long term relying on price etc etc. Some of this is true, but the habs were the 5th best 5v5 team last year for scoring and had the worst PP. How is that a team that couldn't score? Also price was terrible for the first 40 games of the year... they were still in the playoffs first 40 games.... how is this only a carey price team and why is that made to be a bad thing?
the leafs the last 3 years: if they didnt have anderson playing lights out hockey, they were done. Did the insiders ever take that into their " contender" analysis the same way the analyse the habs? Nope.
Do you guys honestly think the Leafs d is better then the habs d? How could they be considered contenders with that d core?

Ive played high level soccer... sure it isnt hockey, but a team game non the less. The type of player leading a team DOES matter.
I like bob mac too...
ive also liked your critiques more or less over the years. cheers.
i hope the team can find some consistency moving forward. I guess whats annoying is the back tracking and excuse making for really just a poorly put together product. There is no true accountability. But time will tell and maybe, just maybe they can pull a st louis type level of game and win it all!
That said, a few years ago i called, on the oilers thread, a 19/20 oilers habs final... i should have put money on it.

I get 90% of my analysis from Fancy stats folks mostly on twitter and a few websites
I dont find I get much value out of Craig button or Peirre Mcguire talking about basic poop that has no impact on the outcomes of games.
Insiders or analysts on TSN or sportsnet can be muted imo..outside of Bob Mac

With the exception of James Tanner, there isn't a single soul in Leafs Nation who thought anything other than that defence would be our weak link this year.

There are some great hockey fans that comment here, and for sure you can spot the people drinking the koolaid, its just frustrating.
I hate that a publicly/privately funded sports station(s) (cbc,SN and tsn) have so many fans employed vs people that will tell it like it is. you are only doing a disservice to impressionable fans by saying something so that they hear something good, vs hearing the truth.
The leafs are never analysed with the same harshness or disdain that teams like the habs, flames or ott get. Personally i like hearing the hard news about my favorite team, but when both team share the same similarities in deficiencies and one fan base get the rose colored approach and the others, the truth, its frustrating.
The habs are not the best team in the league... but based of some crazy voodoo magic the " experts" had them barely making the playoffs based on last years results... but the leafs with 3 points more... were contenders....
what do they base their opinions on?
Btw the habs this year are the most balanced scoring team in 40 years.... you could see them develop that because Julien changed up his system last year to fit the players that bergy brought in...
evolve or get the boot! - munky123
I disagree with the 3rd paragraph, the leafs are continually dumped on by media and analyst. Heck even Jeff O'neill does as well. |

Truth, but we pay for it, so why not at least ask for fair coverage.
the amount of leaf analyses is not even close or as in depth for the other teams.
Yet, and i found some of these stats kind of funny, the leafs are not nearly as popular as everyone makes us believe.

dude, its crazy... i used to have deja vue dreams all the time... My first major dream like that was i dreamed my little bro would fall out a window and he did a few months later. It freaked me out...ive had a few of these type of things happen over my 37 years on the planet, and ive started to write them down.
anyways a few years back i dreamed the oilers/ habs went 7 games and the habs won it in Edmonton, some reason it felt like it was a few years from then. So i had put a number on it and said my guess on the boards a few years back. who knows. but yea, crazier things have happened. |

2 story, it was now 29 years ago when he was 2... because his skull was still soft, it probably saved his life. 2 nd worst only to my other brother falling 6 feet in Barcelona and becoming paralyzed from the nipples down 12 years ago. yea... my family has had it bad... but got to keep chuggin and realise that some people have it worst and be thankful for what youve got.
i didnt. i mean its mostly a feeling. sometimes it comes to fruition sometimes not. I put it on paper, but i think it could have been a wishful thinking type dream.
