Yeah but losing that #11 overall is gonna suckkkkk. - Scabeh
They needed Muzzin though, to be fair.
Edit: that was the previous years first, sry.

WTF. LOL. Outside of the past couple of games when has nylander consistently led this team in the past several years? : - Fakepartofme
Im talking about this season. Nylander has been on of the best from the start of the year. Auston and Willie are the only ones really contributing at even strength game to game.
So yes, they are leading the team like I said |

If it's a top-10 pick, Carolina gets our 2021 1st rounder instead.
So there's that. - Atomic Wedgie
Here's a very Leafy scenario: Leafs miss dance by 2 points, but not in the bottom ten lottery, and therefore lose the 13th pick overall. |

Yeah, a guy who scores more than a goal a game in the OHL. That would be nice. |

I think what we're seeing here is that it's great to have lots of skill and speed and what have you, but a great team has a balanced roster. But even more important a great team has character and will. If the Leafs players are merely satisfied with doing just enough to collect their assumed satisfactory point totals they will go nowhere. They have to want it, they have to be willing to sacrifice. Character goes far in hockey.

doesnt have to be a gpg player, but some of the early scouting reports are that the def group in the later stages of the draft are stellar d.
personally, if the team had a petry type player, it might be just enough to give some leway to the barrie and reilly types to join the rush and over load the opposing d on the rush or in the offensive zone. it might not be popular opinion, but a subban esq type of trade might benefit the leafs should they miss the playoffs or bow out early again. that doesn't mean a nylander trade... |

interesting. ive watched some of caufields video and hes got a great back check and zone awareness... the other part that doesnt work is that he does that at 5-9 or 5-7...
i really think with his drive, attitude and his resolve, he is a gallagher esq type player that can score with more ease. if thats the case. damnnn. |

Leafs drafted a guy in the second round last year who has 19 goals in 17 games.

Then they might as well just tank, because they aren’t winning poop with Babs. - Steven_Seagull
exactly...
might as well keep Babs, 'cause he's done the tank thing before - and with the way the Matthews and Hairlander are leading the Leafs right now... they seem well positioned for tank / bottom 5 finish.
one moderate injury (missing 10-15 games) to either Rielly or Andersen..
and its a done deal.
Keep Babs.
Put the "C" on Nylander - with that kind of pressure he'll be bald by seasons end.
Matthews already has an "A"
Let Shanahan handle the player movement for the remainder of the season...
and keep Harry Potter to handle the draft - starting in the second round - and don't allow him to trade down.
Win Win Win. |

I actually agree with sens. They are leading the team, to a sub 500 record, ever since Willy returned from his holdout.
Once again. Fancy goals and stats are cool, but if you can't stop the other team while doing so, it really means nothing in the standings. |

It seems so weird that we have a team full of high skill guys like Matthews and nylander and marner and rielly and Barrie and they all being told to slow down, play conservative, safe.
This team has proven that they are at their best playing high pace high tempo creative exciting hockey.

The Oilers had Fuhr.
The Leafs have average goaltending. |

Why the hell can't we have a top pairing of Reilly/Barrie? Why do we always have to throw an anchor in with Reilly? .......they're both top pairing defenders, give them the minutes and let them play together, especially on the powerplay. |

Yes, you are right.
Go look up goaltender stats.
He is 31st I believe in sv% and 27th in GAA
Bottom line.
