What game did you watch? Sens game?

I thought you only watched the 2nd?

- Garnie

Nah, I watched the entire game, excluding a few minutes to start the second period because we were playing Mario Kart on my buddy's Switch.

Someone else only watched the 2nd.

Leafs easily the better team. A really bad turnover, a soft goal, and a bad penalty kill were the Leafs undoing. All that combined happened in only a few minutes. Outside all that it was mostly Leafs.

I watched the whole game
the Islanders broke down for a good 15 mins..but it didnt cost them enough because the Leafs are shooting the pucks from the parking lot

- senstroll

It cost the leafs because their d play like there forwards at times...we have 3 forwards on the ice...they need to play like D

And the forwards have to man up a bit in their own zone....

People keep pointing at the goalies sv% and GAA and I keep seeing easy 1 timers into an open cage due to softness in our own zone.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Last night we should be able to win 3-2 or 2-1 easily...we shouldn’t need to score 5 JMO

I was thinking I mixed you up

I thought they played a pretty good game except for a few mins of Team Soft

Two things.

The 1st unit should get until the 40 second mark to make a change.

Switch Barrie and Rielly. It can’t hurt.

- Santo_44

Earlier in the season I was against that because Rielly was literally the only d-man that could hit the net with his shot (everyone else would miss badly or hit the first guy in the shin guards), but Barrie has been hitting the net the past 5ish games now, so I'd like to see it.

so to defend Babcock being given more time, you're using 2 examples of teams who sucked and only got better after making coaching changes........
- sensarmy_11

Stated two teams that benefited from coaching changes.

“Headed down that path”

Do I heed to spell it out for you?

1st 15-7 shot attempts for the Leafs
2nd 23-14
3rd 20-14

Just need to hit the net and get some rebounds banged in and play a little tougher in our own zone. JMO

Kerfoot should have buried the guy who scored 5 hole, instead he tries to stick check him....

- Garnie

For the most part, we looked like the better team last night. It does seem like every lucky bounce goes in our net.. Hopefully, we can get some puck luck soon.

I'm still confused as to what Barrie was doing, or rather trying to do on that 3rd Isles goal.

Rielly has been the most frustrating player on this team this season.

Awful on special teams and below average 5v5.

He can argue he needs a new partner but the special teams are inexcusable.

The leaf way it seems, we do need to be a little smarter in our zone...Barrie doesn’t need to jump there IMO...Johnsson makes a bad pass and the Willie steals only to let the guy take it right back / should have been off his stick immediately and down the ice. Oh well, we only need to be hot coming down the stretch and beat on the weaker teams to make the playoffs

I agree.

There's been a lot of games you could female dog about the Leafs play, but last night wasn't one of them.

Yeah, a few (frank)ups that cost them, but as a whole, Leafs played well.

bad coaching?
bad system?
lack of toughness?
lousy and lazy locker room culture?
3 young stars being paid too much and getting lazy?

- 21peter

This is the post of the year.

Absolutely perfect summary of what has gone wrong. I would only add below-average goaltending most nights.

I think that will change soon.. Rielly has to start trusting Ceci, like he trusted Hainsey.

you stated 2 teams that only got better after coaching changes, then immediately said Babcock needs more time.......the "headed down that path" seemed like an afterthought....but I get what you're saying. I think the fact that you never stated that those teams got better after coaching changes is what was confusing.....it sounded like you were using those teams as examples of why Babcock should be given more time.

He can’t trust Ceci.

Hainsey was good at defending the rush and breaking up plays.

Ceci sucks at that and so does Rielly. The pairing is and always will be bad. It’s not a good fit.

Turned his brain off, I guess. Probably didn't think the puck would bounce and Muzzin would turn it over. Should've remembered which ice pad he was on.

it's hard to skate with an anchor wrapped around both your legs. Has Ceci finally been removed as his partner?

All we have to do is get in to the playoffs first.

Only kidding of course.. They'll make the playoffs... They definitely need to be smarter in their own end..

That EN goal against, Matthews whiffed on it. I have faith in them, they'll figure it out soon.

That's the thing, he is going to have too. I don't see Babs making a change unless Ceci gets injured.

That was a pretty insane bounce, though. That garbage ice makes the ACC ice look good.

if it makes you feel a little better....our coach did the same thing, and anchored zaitsev to Chabot. he finally split them up yesterday and Chabot had, surprisingly, his best game of the year.

hopefully for Rielly's sake (I actually really like him as a player) he can shed his anchor too......Ceci is such a (frank)ing trainwreck.
