I don't blame Babcock.

I do think the players are not playing for him, for whatever reason. Maybe they just don't give a poop in general, or they dislike him, who knows?

Their systems are terrible. There is just no way around it. I just think the problem is more with the execution of the systems than the systems themselves.

- Aetherial

I'm fully on the fire Babcock train ASAP as i think it's the quickest way to move on from Kyle as well. Babcock needs to be gone today. Kyle in April once the season is done.

I just find it weird that they play like the 2009 Leafs still despite having no players left from that era.

Yeah, that is the biggest mystery. Absolutely zero has changed in like 10 years.

The Subban/Pacioretty/Galchenyuk trades did wonder for our team.

- Scabeh

I mean since Subban was traded the Habs missed the playoffs in back to back seasons.

So congrats on the success?

*just pointing this out, because if a Leaf fan did it, it would be pointed out

Not only are the refs against the leafs, now the hockey gods are too?

Agreed.

It makes me wonder if they can put it together is it going to completely flip their game? I'd hope so.

I am just not convinced its the right system for them, its been 20 games you'd think they'd start to show signs of doing so.

- Santo_44

An up-tempo system with some defensive responsibility requires that they out-skate the opposition. This team almost never does that, and never does that for a whole game.

So, I agree, if they were prepared to play that system, we would see signs of it.

No no, it's worth pointing out. It didn't bring us to supertardom.

But it's also glaringly obvious the team has had a much better attitude and is trending in the right direction since these trades happened.

Subban does not look good in NJ (granted almost no one does). I'm surprised he can't hold down the top PP spot. I think I saw Will Butcher running the point for it last night and that's because Sami Vatanen was out

Or they could be benched until they do engage.
What could it hurt, they aren't winning anyway.

- bobbyisno1

But the fans feelings would be hurt and Babcock would be an bumhole, I agree, every time I saw a one handed stick check I’d send them to the room...we played better with Matthias and Grabner for (frank) sakes

So are we...

I like Babs as a coach, he knows what he's doing.. I do think it might be time for a change sooner than later.. I think this team needs a defensive minded coach that utilizes players to their strengths.

I saw some flashes of it...The play they got it out quick and up to Kapanaen and JT...He ripped it off the post.

Didn't PK lose this spot in Nashville too? Josi and Ellis on PP1.

Before 2019 The Leafs were showing signs of becoming a dominant team...They have had the talent for it.

They have two number 1C, a top pairing D(might not be playing like it right now) and a number 1G.

And some high end wingers to boot.

The system they are trying right now could be awesome....but they are running out of time and at some point if they can't get it going they will have to scrap it.

There is something wrong in the room. I don't know if it is Babs, or just a poor group.

I don't recall ever seeing a team this talented look this bad. Even their wins this year have almost all been against bad teams. It is not a stretch to say they are lucky to be where they are... which is still out of the playoffs on a point% base.

We laughed and laughed at Bergevin claiming the Habs problems were a attitude/culture issue.

I am not laughing anymore. The Habs, with less talent are a much better team right now.

Hopefully they wake the F up. On the other hand, maybe they need a season that embarrasses them and teaches them a lesson.

The Muskoka Five say hello.

Blue and White disease has returned. It's a full-blown epidemic.

These guys think they can just have fun, skate around and win on their "elite talent." They don't think hard work is required.

Q: How the frank can a team with this much talent give up the first goal every single freaking night?

A: Lack of effort.

Giving up the first goal, is not the issue.. Lately, we've been giving up the first two goals of the game.

It's tough to always be down 2-0 early.

I agree.

I am not on the firebabs train yet....

They get until christmas time but if they are still not playing any system by then Babs could get canned.
