I'm not sure that's true, maybe the first year where he couldn't start anywhere but the NHL but I'm skeptical that he has a deal that says if he goes to the AHL in the next two years he is a FA. If you can cite that, it would be great. - GilPerreault11
Mitts also has WAY, WAY more talent than Tage
I think amity’s has looked better this year
He had a lot of trouble last year with all the responsibilities the Center position comes with,
especially defensively
I know the above for a fact
And i think that we aren’t seeing a huge boost in points yet bc he’s continuing to focus on developing his 2way game
He does look better offensively in spurts though
And i do think we will still see him develop into a good top6 guy |

this is a good post - homiedclown
4 major off-season moves
Vesey has no goals in 17 games
Miller is scratched
Give him 2 or 3 more years, he'll get it right |

bills social media posting a video of allen completing a deep sideline pass in practice is comedy
what the hell did they think the replies would be - robz228
The Pegulas run two of the most sensitive organizations in sports.
It was a shot at the fans who say Allen can’t hit the deep ball.
Be more like Carolina and Vegas. They are at least enjoyable to follow. |

Homie’s source has been pretty solid
That said...
I think ppl are glossing over something Homie said earlier
“Botts hasn’t gotten any trade offers he likes”
SO WHAT SHOULD HE DO???
1) make a bad trade
2) be patient till he can make a good one
I’m going with option2
Bc i think that’s what’s best in the long run
And i wanna see us become a legit Cup Contender,
not just make desperate moves to squeak into the playoffs - jdfitz77
I'm not questioning his source. I am only pointing out that no source knows everything unless it is the GM himself, and there could absolutely be validity to what Chad and Jeremy White posted on Twitter. |

And we finished 31stOA with Jack as 1C
Using arguments like that don’t have correlation to how good a player is
Maybe Botts did have to trade him
But again...
I just find it funny that all the ppl that wanted him gone can not stop whining about how we desperately need a 2C immediately - jdfitz77
And using the correlation that ROR is a good team player because he succeeded in StL despite being cantankerous to two managements is just as bad of an argument. It's fool hearty to suggest what would have happened had he stayed, and to unequivocally say we would be better off is disingenuous as the assets coming back haven't really played for us yet (being Johnson and Tage) compared to what happened in StL. They won, great, hopefully the trade works out well for both.
Bottom line with ROR, he's gone, and no one knows if we'd be better off with him, or if he'd just be another player to poke about only being a 55 pt guy that's good at faceoffs. |

I've spelled this out 100 times. Here's 101
- If you trade assets, the moves have to pay off. Skinner did, scandella, vesey, sheary, beaulieu did not. Miller is now scratched
- he traded for too many defensemen instead of a reasonable mix of forwards and defensemen
- the pipeline is dry of forward talent because of 1 and 2
- we all cant wait for the players he acquired to leave, but he's getting credit for them leaving after spending assets to acquire them - jcragcrumple
There's a major and rather obvious difference between "giving him credit" for them leaving and seeing that being the plan and willing to let it play out. If they're a disaster next season, then he will absolutely deserve the blame and most likely need to get fired. It's doesn't take much to see what he's doing here.

To be fair JWs source has not really amounted to much the past year or so. |

I'd ship out mccabe for a prospect you can plug on the wing in the middle 6, yesterday
frees up the log jam on D short term and gives you a little salary cap relief and a lottery ticket |

Agreed. Don't need another race to 8th team mentality. - SDSabre
I know it comes off like i don’t want us to make a move
But that’s not at all what i mean
I just want Botts to make a GOOD MOVE
And i recognize that one probably isn’t available at this point
Bc if one was, it’s reasonable to assume he’d do it
The last thing i want is for him to make a desperate move |

I’m all ears? What is he doing?
He brought in players to knowingly be had 3 years after he started?
He did it so he could have about 20 mil in cap space with 8 guys to sign? |

he needs to make a move, needed to make a move the day he got joker
the guys he brought in are not cutting it up front
and he retained a lot of crap from past regime
he sat on his hands last december, this is not another time to sit on his hands - homiedclown
Didn’t u just say he doesn’t like the trade offers he’s gotten?
Do u really think he should make a trade he doesn’t like,
just so that he’s not “sitting on his hands again” |

on risto, yes he does not like the offers, and he has never offered risto to another gm
he could easily move mccabe yesterday if he wanted for a prospect winger |

I bet Botterill is asking himself the same thing. He put himself in this position by over investing in d men. He'll have to find his way out - jcragcrumple
I hear you
But those are the moves that were available that he believed were good
Thing is...
it’s seems like you & others want him to make a trade NOW
Even if there isn’t a good deal available to him
*and yes, when i say good deal i mean by Botts’ standards
Not yours or mine
Bc his standards are the ones that count |

he's a rookie gm, and honestly if you look at what he has done in the last 12 months, it's not much different then what murray did
he is trading away draft picks left and right, but not getting a kane or ror as a return
if you make a few big splashes and get fringe all star players, it's probably better then giving a way a few picks here and there and have vesey, miller, sheary and wilson to show for it |

if the goal is to ice the best team in buffalo, tage deserves a shot in our top 9 over okposo or lazar |

it's frustrating when you see casey struggle as a center
switch it up
move casey to the wing - homiedclown
Maybe they have tried him at practice on the wing and he totally sucks, doesn't have the mental capacity to pick up another position or desire to play wing and they can't light the fire to get him to want to play wing. He and his agent might think his best future is at center as are the big bucks. |

he would be fine on the wing, see the world jrs
having the e rods, berglunds, sobotkas, johanssons, larssons on the roster forced casey to be a center right away
that's on botts |

That's usually more of the coach's call, unless Botterill has a Lou Lamoriello persona we are all unaware of. |

It's pretty similar. He's pulling a reverse Murray. All D, no forwards |
