my source is solid

see pommer coming back, me calling the bills wanting antonio brown the day before we almost got him in our sleep, etc

he is looking to add prospects and shed salary right now, same as he was last december

You give him crap for not adding to the forward pipeline, while also giving him crap for making moves with depth picks to try to acquire players who can help the team win now.

I’m confused.

- Swedish_Jesus

I've spelled this out 100 times. Here's 101

- If you trade assets, the moves have to pay off. Skinner did, scandella, vesey, sheary, beaulieu did not. Miller is now scratched

- he traded for too many defensemen instead of a reasonable mix of forwards and defensemen

- the pipeline is dry of forward talent because of 1 and 2

- we all cant wait for the players he acquired to leave, but he's getting credit for them leaving after spending assets to acquire them

Or they think Tage still has stuff to work on
And would rather him continue to develop than make the same mistake they did last year by bringing him up too soon

Still am happy he did it.

Return wasn't near what it should have been, but I think it was best for all.

Certainly ROR.

- gcomella34

And i think it’s logical to assume we’d be better if we still had him

All day, every day, *and over a year later,
all i still see here is that we need a 2C

Welp... this is what u ROR haters get

when the team is slipping, it's the gm's job to salvage the season

he didn't do it last season

he has the assets to do it now, and despite what people are hearing on twitter

the only thing being discussed is shipping out a few bums for a late pick or blah prospects

it's beyond pathetic

for every skinner or joker move he makes, he brings in 3 other guys that are just warm bodies

we lost our second line winger

the response, bring up lazar, not tage

I think lazar would be a fine 4th liner if an energy 8 minute role was the spot

tage is the prospect who should be given 15 minutes a night on RW

instead wait for the okposo promotion

it's coming

- homiedclown

It is the GM'S job to help fix the problem, do I like what is happening NO. I am sick of the losing. But I really don't think he does anything until after the new year, and even then it probably won't be much. This core of players have been together and really haven't done much together. Yes there hasn't been a lot of talent around them, but sometimes you have to use that core to help better your team. I blame the GM, but the players have to take some responsibility to.

Not saying your source isn't solid, but unless your source is Botterill himself, I doubt he knows ALL of his phone interaction. Lets hope Botts is keeping a big birdie close to his vest.

It seems they are sticking to the plan of a certain amount of AHL games for Tage to improve his development and the long-range picture which they should have done last year.
- GilPerreault11

the fact casey is with the sabres proves that plan wrong though

even if they moved casey the wing, and called up asplund to play center, thats a better move then calling up lazar and promote okposo

You sure are defensive when nothing I said or wrote was an attack on you or your source.

My only point was there could be merit to what others are saying while your source still has merit.

Part of Mittelstadt's deal was that they had to keep him here. They burned a year of his entry-level deal in order to get that deal done. If not, he had the leverage to walk/become a free agent. Thompson never had that leverage.

it's his job to ice the best nhl team though

you don't replace a second line winger with a fringe 4th liner at best nhl player

you call up your best prospect who has top 9 potential and put him in a place to succeed

this has okposo on the second or third line written all over it

- homiedclown

Not if u think it will have negative results again

And we don’t need Botts acting out of desperation,
making GMTM type deals

How quickly ppl forget that’s what got us in this position in the first place

Again from me, who isn't a ROR hater and only wanted him to fail in StL for the draft pick and no longer care how he does, it sure seemed from the outside that it was a mutual parting of ways in him not wanting to be her and the Pegulas wanting him gone. I mean, we did finish as the first 31st OA with him as our 2C....

I'm not sure that's true, maybe the first year where he couldn't start anywhere but the NHL but I'm skeptical that he has a deal that says if he goes to the AHL in the next two years he is a FA. If you can cite that, it would be great.

Homie’s source has been pretty solid

That said...
I think ppl are glossing over something Homie said earlier

“Botts hasn’t gotten any trade offers he likes”

SO WHAT SHOULD HE DO???

1) make a bad trade
2) be patient till he can make a good one

I’m going with option2
Bc i think that’s what’s best in the long run
And i wanna see us become a legit Cup Contender,
not just make desperate moves to squeak into the playoffs

It wouldn't say that, but he could also have refused to sign the deal back in 2018 if he didn't get assurances.

It happens all the time for college players to have to start in the NHL their first year but they don't get total freedom of FA if they are sent down if they suck. That's why I'd love to see this written in the press somewhere to back this claim up. I saw the first year, 10 games or so written, but never what you claim.

he needs to make a move, needed to make a move the day he got joker

the guys he brought in are not cutting it up front

and he retained a lot of crap from past regime

he sat on his hands last december, this is not another time to sit on his hands

And we finished 31stOA with Jack as 1C
Using arguments like that don’t have correlation to how good a player is

Maybe Botts did have to trade him
But again...
I just find it funny that all the ppl that wanted him gone can not stop whining about how we desperately need a 2C immediately

I bet Botterill is asking himself the same thing. He put himself in this position by over investing in d men. He'll have to find his way out

it's frustrating when you see casey struggle as a center

switch it up

move casey to the wing
