A real bust or a Lefty bust(doesnt achieve draft position)?
- boonerbuck

The subjective ongoing debate about semantics. REally the cornerstone of this site.
What is a blue chip prospect?
What is a 1st liner?
What is a proper rebuild?

What is a bust?

imo - a player that doesn't make the NHL.

i'd be pleased in Podz plays in the show, smashes dudes and averages 15g and 20a.

Bring on the PIMS!

For a 10oa? A 35 point player? You could achieve that frequently enough with a later pick and college free agent signings.

Sounds fun if they were for coincidental roughing or something, but he keeps taking tripping penalties for wild swinging pokechecks as he chases the puck carrier around. Like a cat chasing a laser pointer.

Yup, that's what i've been seeing as well. I guess we have to put our faith in Brackett who was happy with the pick. I'm just not too sure.
- VanHockeyGuy

Have to wait and see how it plays out, but I think they may end up regretting not taking Caufield or Boldy.

Valeri Nichushkin who you say is a bust had 34 points in his rookie season. 1 point less than what you'd be happy with in a 10oa pick. He also had a stronger showing in the KHL.

Cody Hodgson who you gave a lol to had 33 points in his rookie season and points increased the following 2 seasons. He played around 360 games in the NHL in a top 6 role mostly(post Canucks).

Your list isnt very encouraging.

Boldy has 1 point in 9 games sounds a little Podzish if you ask me

Boldy is struggling with a transition to Center from what I heard... & Zegras is killing it with 4 & 8 for 12 in 9gp. Dying to know the draft table story from this year... Whether we were waiting for him to drop, had a possible trade up that we decided against, or what. I highly doubt Podkolzin was THE target, but who knows.

Nuke had an issue of "lots of tools, no tool box". I haven't seen that issue from Podz. I see him as a 20-30g 60+ point guys...which is a success for a 10oa.

Podz better have a tool box because I don't want another Virtanen.

No more drafting players who are thick as a brick, which reminds me

Canucks will get a player out of this pick. Nobody is talking bust as far as I know.

We all know that Nichushkin and Hodgson washed out quickly after promising starts. Not what i'm hoping for tbh.

The list is not very encouraging, outside a couple steals.
That's kinda the point that my hopes/expectations are tempered.

I like Boldy's career numbers better. I see the instincts. I would never be foolish enough to try base someone's instincts on a 9 game sample.

Podz has completely dried up since the Hlinka tourney well over a year ago.

I haven’t seen any of Boldy’s NCAA games first hand but people who have say he’s doing all the right things & just not getting production. Definitely much easier to be patient through a prospect’s slump when you know the instincts are there.

I agree. In Boldy, you have instincts to develop. With Podz,,, you have a mountain of heart but have to teach offensive skills. Unfortunately, we have to have faith that his KHL team will teach him on the ice for 2 seasons but he plays less than 5 min a game and watches the PP from the bench which means he's not likely on a unit in practice either.
