The list of names who have had a Cup of coffee in the NHL as goaltenders is virtually endless.

There are the true young great NHL prospects who elevate quickly thru the minors and land in the NHL and stay there a long time - Price, Fleury, Quick, Rask and a few others. Look for Carter Hart and Thatcher Demko to be part of the next group.

Most of the rest like Delia never make it. NHL shooters expose those guys quickly and they never recover to be seen again in the NHL. Bowman did something quite smart to sign Lehner and give his team a chance with 2 NHL goaltenders. Delia likely will never be seen again in an NHL uniform.

- RickJ

Most definitely. At least the Hawks continue to search for free agents to stock the farm with and see what sticks rather than rely on drafting goalies which has been a pretty poor track record.

Of the 3 Rockford goalies, Tomkins is the only one who was drafted yet is considered a career minor leaguer while free agents Delia and Lankinen have been billed as having NHL potential.

Of the 2 drafted goalies in juniors, Gravel has potential while it's too early to tell on Basse. Even doing online searches for Basse nets very little as far as scouting reports and tape.

The other drafted goalies in Nalimov and Peeters are going nowhere fast.

Thanks, AEL. Saw that Ben Pope said he doesn't believe that D Sikura is thought of as an NHL player by the Hawks. Do you get that sense at all (I'm assuming not because you have him listed)? But, have you heard any rumblings about that potential?
- pdx2ord

The tweet you shared earlier by Pope is the first I have heard anything about the Hawks not thinking much of Sikura anymore. If that is true, that's a shame as Sikura is the best player on the Hogs and has shown glimpses of at least being a contributory 200 foot forward at the NHL level.

Just a gut feeling but I think there is a bias towards European imports which is why I think Wedin or even Nilsson will be the first forward to be called up if the Hawks need to. Last year when Nilsson was called up, he was far from deserving. Hard worker, yes. Impact player, no.

Sikura can give the Hawks both.

Afternoon hawks fans. Hawks play Nashville tonight which hawks team will show up the one that played Vegas and won or the team that got rolled by San Jose.

Murphy is back in the lineup as much as I'd like to think he makes the defense stronger , he seems to be injury prone out last year at the beginning of the season , missed the start of the season this year than played 6 games and went out injured.

I thought boqvist played well , I get it that Chicago would rather give him more time to tweak his skill.

I looked at Perlini numbers since being traded and in 9 games he has 0 goals 0 assists and is a minus 3
I'd say Stan might have the edge on that trade.

Looking for a good effort tonight, let Rinne know he’s is in a game. Need some guys parked in front of the net, and make life miserable for him. Hopefully we get two points, but I’m okay if we take three points this weekend. Go Hawks!
- Angotti

They should be more than motivated after their last visit down in Trashville. I hope they make that sieve of a goalie Rinne eat his words for his post-game comments.

Aren't these separate thoughts though? Yes he may have had some issues with injuries but when healthy he does actually make the defense stronger.

Yes I guess you could say those where 2 separate thoughts. IMO murphy was sold to hawks fans as a younger version of hammer.
Looking at murphy when he stays healthy he is at best a solid 3rd pairing , but not a top 4 guy.

The other issue I have with murphy and Chicago in general is his health is a issue when it comes to relying upon him to play. Chicago has improved their defense with maatta and DE HAAN but Keith and Seabrook let's be honest here are not the same players they once where and to try and lean on them heavily is proposturous.

Gus has played a little bit better as of late , it's only his offensive side that is why he is still in the lineup and even that has gone missing.

That really is too bad, if it's true he's persona non grata. Guess every GM/Coach pair has their biases and blindspots.

OK, WTF?

Second City Hockey
@2ndCityHockey

Defenseman Adam Boqvist out. Forward John Quenneville returns after missing nine games with an upper-body injury (arm/shoulder). #IceHogs #Blackhawks #AHL

OK, AEL - tell us we shouldn't be concerned about the Hawks' ability to develop top prospects.

I agree with your point every GM/Coach has their biases. Sikura did play in 36 games last year I believe and IMO he didn't produce .

Just throwing this point out their , but if a prospect is predicted as a top 6 and when called up doesn't produce. My guess is Chicago trades him

I was surprised to see that assessment of sikura posted by Pope. Inside information or just his read of the situation. He is now 24 still on the small side. 5 years post draft and 4 years college hockey, not highly skilled. He is getting to the time of career where a guy gets labled non NHL caliber.

Your point is spot on regarding his age and where he is in his career path . Well behind the majority of players who make the jump earlier in their age/career.

Especially his position he plays is forward , not a center.

I’m watching the Leafs/Penguins game. Toronto is in desperate need of a backup goalie. They have a rookie in net now and he’s terrible.

I’m think Stan should take advantage of the situation and see what Toronto will give up for Delia.

Skilled - and fast - enough to play a complete 200 foot game in the Show - which not many current Hawk forwards can do.

13+17=30 at Rockfish shows Ha can score.

I’m guessing he would be a productive player in the NHL - and I don’t understand the reluctance to give him a shot.

Im not even referring to the report - just that he hasn’t been in Chicago since last April 1.
