This is why I am not a fan of advanced stats as a sole predicate whether a player has played a good game or not.

Sabres LW Jimmy Vesey had an outstanding game (84.2 CF%, 98.9 xGF%) at Chicago.
The Blackhawks line of Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome, and Patrick Kane was on the wrong side of the puck (23.5 CF%, 21.4 xGF%) in a 4-1 win over Buffalo. |

You’re (your) the last person I thought I’d have to explain this to. It’s a well known fact, that there's a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentaveret, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows.

Does anyone remember the song "Camp Granada" by Alan Sherman. The kid is writing his parents asking them to come and get him from the summer camp because everything about it is absolutely awful. Then at the very end of the song, he tells them to disregard the letter because it stopped raining and guys are swimming, sailing and playing ball.
That sums up this blog. The Hawks are terrible. Colliton is terrible. His system is terrible. Bowman is terrible. McDonough is terrible. Oh wait they just won 4 in a row. Everything is good. - -Doh-
It's not even 4 games, I know one poster who in one game last season flip flopped 4 times. |

Hawks still get hemmed in their own end too much but they have been much better at keeping opponents to the outside and staying in position, especially around the net. They have been clearing guys out.
Nice to see opposing players receiving some loving cross checks when they try to get to the front of the net.

True, my point is the Kane line is a quick strike/off the rush type of line, they aren't cycle guys. So if the line they are playing against has the puck for a minute cycling the boards, get a shot from the outside or a bad angle, the puck goes up ice, and the Kane line scores off the rush, their fancy stats look bad, but in reality the line did what they were designed to do.

To add to this, they more times than not set up a play, how many times do we see a forward stop along the boards and try to set up. This doesn't only apply to this line. I love the play where they go to the boards a team is being really aggressive and the Hawks pass it back to the middle of the ice and get a shot right down Broadway |

Corsi is useful, but it needs to be a component of the evaluation and not the end all, be all.
As for the blue line, let's see how this plays out over the longer haul. There will be injuries and somewhere between October and now is where this team will probably wind up. It is encouraging that you can see the team rolling four lines fairly effectively given the players they have now.
The big question will be whether they have enough scoring on the road when the clamp down hits the Strome-Kane-Debrincat line around January 1.

I like the recent run against good teams, however Carolina will be the biggest test. Nashville, Toronto, Vegas, and Buffalo have all been on recent slides, not trying to be gloom and doom, that’s just a fact. Caroline comes in with a three game winning streak, so it will be a good challenge for the Hawks. |

True, but beating Nashville and Vegas on the road is a big step for the club.

At least the Hawks weren’t the cure those teams needed to stop their (there, they’re) slides. Half full. |
