JVR, Jake and Hayes have been frustrating lately, but of the 3, I excuse JVR (the most). He’s been so snake bitten the last several games. Point blank chances and just can’t bury a goal. Had 2 in the first few minutes last night.

There is nothing else. You've got nothing. You have a forum here and an opportunity. Back up your accusation. I'll be waiting.

Prove how I've given Gostisbehere a pass. You claimed I did. The responsibility is yours.

When Steve Mason had his first child, his play dropped off. I am pretty sure Matt Read had his worst season when he had his first. Claude Giroux had his first this summer.

Caring for a little one will mess anyone up. G is just another in a long line of players whose play has dropped off from being a first time parent. Worry on road trips, sleep deprivation at home. It will be worse for Giroux because he is competitive and will get frustrated by his play.

Giroux, Voracek, and vanReimsdyk need to be significantly better. 23.525M of cap hit on those guys. The 4th line center role looks to remain a work in progress with neither Rubtsov, Misha, or Raffl being able to solidify it.

Hopefully one of Laughton or Patrick can come back to the team sooner than later.

I'm sure a lot of NHL players have become first time fathers. Did all of their play drop off?

A quarter of the season is over already. Patrick isn't practicing yet. He won't be back anytime soon, if at all.

I also excuse JvR because he doesn’t see consistency with top talent on the team. Yes, he’s played with Giroux the most since G was placed back to center but the second things get rough, you know JvR is the one moving back in the line up. The second Giroux goes back to wing, JvR is moving back. I think JvR needs to be in the mix more in the top six.

So we’re 1-1-1 in our last three. Within our last three, I felt like we saw three different frustrating elements.

1. Philadelphia in Boston. I feel like Boston is one of the very best teams in the east, so when Boston doesn’t show up for the first 40 minutes of the game, I get disappointed. I want to know exactly where we measure up. Good for the Flyers for taking advantage and getting the win but I want to see an outcome where both brought their best.

2. Washington in Philadelphia. This is the game where I felt both put up a real fight head to head and we defended well against a team that I feel is the best in the east. You always want to win but getting a point against the best in a full 65 minute effort was something to be proud of. I think Wednesday showed that we are really good.

Then comes Friday night...

3. Philadelphia in Ottawa. Well I understand that Ottawa does have some talent and good at home, they’re still a bottom of the standings team. Regardless of what Ottawa brought or where we played, we didn’t bring very much. I felt like the refs were handing us last night’s match up. The moment I think we are one of the best in the east, we hit a wall and played like we did last night.

Very disappointing.

Yeah. I got that. It's why I said we'd have to retain salary but if he's got an actual. Nmc it would further complicate matters.

Would anyone do a Voracek for Zucker swap of some sort? Zucker does have a motified NTC

Giroux has played okay away from the puck but that's not enough. He is not pushing this team offensively. Other players are. He's not even that good on the PP right now. I'm not sure how anyone can not have issues with his play. Again it's the higher standard that I talk about. The team Captain with the highest cap hit, the team's best player needs to play like it. He's not. He's not a 3rd line center paid to take D zone draws and play well defensively.

To add to your point, it’s gonna take a lot more than Giroux simply moving to the wing to get him going. Giroux is still getting his chances but I don’t think we’re seeing his best, game in and game out, in all situations.

To some degree, I don’t think he’s being used right. We had a 4 minute power play with four minutes left in last night’s game. I felt Giroux was doing what he could to win by making plays and shooting the puck but a player receiving passes with his stick towards the boards, attempting shots, isn’t going to have as quick a release as a guy playing his off wing, stick towards the net and ready for one timers.

I dont know that i have heard more of a stretch than that. =)

Giroux is currently 13 points in 19 games and a plus 6 for the season. By his standards , by the level he is getting paid and by the title of Captain he is off to a bad start but Im pretty sure it's not related to being a first time parent.

What is the excuse for JVR, Hayes, Jake ?

Last night was further proof for me that our veteran leadership core is garbage. I'm done giving Jake, G, Coots, Ghost, etc more time.

Would have liked to have brought him back a few years ago. Talk about at steal of a trade for the Kings. They gave up Jack Johnson and what, a 1st for him?
