Seems slower than last year though don’t you think? Less fluid is how I would describe it
- WSCTeton17

That might be fair. Weirdly he may have been more comfortable with Gudbranson and JJ. But I thought he was indecisive last year too.

Since this is apparently a rich white boy sport I don’t know who would even be watching to be offended. I do th think too many Somalians or Chinese are watching coaches corner

My guess is that the younger generation of hockey fans are more liberal/left leaning and they are more vocal on the twitterbox.

Ah gotcha. I dunno. He made no direct reference to skin color so I feel like a lot of people are assuming who he was talking about. Does it make them wrong? Not exactly but meh. Society is too soft these days.
- j.boyd919

Yeah he definitely doesn’t but thats why I mentioned what Mississauga is like. White is the minority there and eastern Canadians (and those in politics) know it. When you add in that he said “you people coming here” and how people fly off the handle I completely get it. I don’t agree with it, but people in politics twist things so much these days

Grapes will always have his supporters and I don’t think he has any regrets

I was just about to ask about jj without bias. Due to work and living in western Canada I miss most pens game except the final 5 minutes. But he seems to be out for very few goals against even in our losses. Was wondering how the eye test was for him. Haven’t even read about his Corsi here in awhile. That must be an rw compliment towards jj lol

It's the same JJ, but the team around him is just so much better. Faster forwards with a defensive conscious is hiding his flaws. Call me crazy, but I think this team can become a buzz saw if they ever get healthy.

Hockey is for everyone

😂

Yeah idk. I’m 29 and know lots of people on both sides of all ages down here in AZ which is a swing state and becomes more purple every year with people moving from CA, WA, OR, NY, etc

Definitely more Dems on twitter and probably all social media platforms

That’s a great point about having a more defensive minded partner, that could definitely be it

Gudbranson btw 3rd in TOI for the Ducks tonight. 1 goal, +2 for the Ducks overall averaging over 20 minutes per game. He’s positive relative to his teammates

Vrana just did the Datsyuk in the shootout to beat the Bruins. Boooo

I think he's encompassing a lot of things. at least part of it is generational. Young people aren't sporting Poppys they way the older generations do, they don't participate in the traditions

Small towns = older people, older generations, more traditions, he sees Poppys. Big cities, Toronto, Mississauga, young people, Millenials, he doesn't see as many Poppys

He made almost the exact same rant in 2015, where he had more time and was more articulate

I've liked every line that has Kahun and McCann together. They have some serious chemistry and with another speed guy like Tanev or Rust are giving teams fits.

Might be interesting to keep together, but eventually Hornqvist has to fit somewhere.

- Tojo.

Rust fits well with Malkin. Crosby and Guentzel are as permanent as you are going to get. Bjugstad and Hornqvist can fight it out for ice with Sid. Geno needs a LW, I still think it should be Galchenyuk but he may never that chance again. I don't like it but maybe move Rust over to his off wing. He is much better on the right side than the left. I wouldn't do that unless nothing else works.

Plus minus is not an indicator of ones performance, much of it is just timing BUT it does say something and he’s third on the Pens going into tonight’s matchup. He’s even tonight. Marino and Dumo are +4
- WSCTeton17

That's fair. JJ is becoming far less noticable, and anyone on the PK is getting props from me right now.

I'm still going with the forwards are masking som weaknesses in the defensemen in general, not just him. But bottom LD is suiting him better and he's not hurting them like last year.

Already beat me to it I see. I agree though, a lot of potential in this forward group if they ever get healthy.

Agree. I'd rather give the back up 20-25 games myself, but Sully tends to ride his #1 to death. I think Murray would benefit from more rest and Jarry deserves some more starts.

Nice to have some options. Hornqvist never sticks long with Sid. Agree Rust is just better on his right and right now you've got to rid him out with Malkin, but I've seen Rust hot streaks com and go so if they get healthy it may be time to rotate him.

I see 5 pairs that can be built around: Crosby-Guentzel, Malkin-Rust, McCann-Kahun, Bjugstad-Hornqvist, Blueger-ZAR. They'd have to break one up and fit the other pieces. (Tanev, Simon, Galch)

Crazy Stats:
Pens PK has only allowed 5 goals all year....and has scored 4. (per DeFabo)

Jared McCann has 18 goals and 29 points in 50 games as a Pen.

Haha the PK be aiight.

So over an 82 game span he's on Pace to be a 25-30 goal scorer. I'll take that.

I'd try this out in order of your pairs.
Tanev, Galch(last chance),Blueger, Simon(line from last year). If Galch/Bjug isn't working out start looking for deals
