Schedule doesn’t look too bad over the next couple weeks...boys, go take a shower. The leafs will be fine, no wonder none of them read the media etc.

Get healthy, play some weaker teams.

Win the cup.

If they’d just take care of their own zone 1st, they’d be fine..but plays like last night - Johnsson ( who I like a lot ) steering traffic and then he doesn’t take anybody is exactly what’s wrong with this team...plus stick waving like my kids Bantam house league team will not do it in the NHL. Most teams that have success have D that are vicious when you come near them...sure they take some pims and maybe give up a couple extra shot attempts but you don’t get many extra chances on the doorstep...not easy to find I know, but something that’s needed. Fire Babs, but regardless the team makeup needs a tweak or 2. JMO

I don’t place much blame on Babcock myself. But he needs to be fired now so the clock can start ticking on Dubas.

Babcock has proven he can win a SC.
Dubas hasn't proven anything - since before he got appointed to GM, I said it was a bad thing to make him GM of one of the biggest sports franchises in the world.
Dubas doesn't know how to value goalies. (he really has 0 clue).
He is a bad contract negotiator.
He doesn't understand that he has to listen to his coach in order to succeed.
And on top of that, he is a poor judge of character.

Always makes me laugh seeing you say that. You, who is easily the worst judge of goalies, on this entire site.

I'm not totally in the fire Babcock side of things...only because I remember the revolving door of coaches we had a few years ago and I think it sends the wrong message to the players...a treat for being lazy, over paid, spoiled little cu4ts.... BUT it really seems like its the first of a few things that need to happen.

1. Fire Babcock, Hire Keefe.
Babcock is stubborn and won't change his systems to match the team assemble by boy wonder. Almost seems like he's doing some moves as an "I told you so Dubas" on a nightly basis. He's either stubborn or spiteful. Neither is working.

Keefe knows our team, he's coached some/most of them. Could be the faster way to turn around this bullpoop.

2. Get a back up goalie and make a one or two player moves for D to send a message to the team that "we heard you" so now there is no more fu3king around. If there is even the slightest wiff of entitlement left in the room or on the ice, bench a motherfu3ker once and a while.

3. Fire Dubas and make Shanny take the GM spot and man up to his own Shanaplan.

Dubas is not good, it's really not hard to see. Just with the moves he's made since Lou left, it's glaringly fu3king obvious. He destroyed the goaltending position, it wasn't just Sparks vs McIll which was obvious as fu3k, we had another solid back up that was lost in waivers too.

And to all you Sparks vs McIll guys that say it was the right decision....bullpoop...Sparks always looked like a Reimer, always looked too sloppy and always moved around way too much in his crease, too emotional for a real back up. McIll was a legit back up with no illusion of being a #1 and that is something that is SO important and overlooked for that role. Coming in cold or coming in after not playing for long periods is part of the skill of a back up; it is the mindset that is critical to their success.

And just an aside, WHY THE FU3K DOES BABCOCK NEVER PULL THE GOALIE. He shouldn't have left that kid out to dry. He should have sent Andersen in for the 2nd and 3rd. This back to back goalie bullsh1t is almost enough for me to say fire his ass.

I think everyone is putting too much stock into these guys being ready to do it all immediately. I mean, your top six has a bunch of kids and Tavares and Hyman, both of whom are 28-29. It’s gonna take some time, I think.

I might be jaded by the fact it took the Wings so long for the votes to mature in such a way for all four cups in the 90s and 00s.

There’s a lot more wrong than just age, don’t get me wrong. But maybe the expectations are a little ludicrous at this point. Just my two cents.

Sure.
Apart from the fact that I was right on Bobrovsky, Holtby, Vasilevskiy, Gibson going to be legit elite nhl goalies, Lehner being a top15 nhl starter and Sparks and Hutch not being nhl backups while McElhinney should have been kept by the Leafs.

I actually agree. Could’ve saved a million on Nylander and two each on Matthews and Marner. Hell, just doing the latter would be fine.

I still think Babcock is not getting anywhere near the performance out of his line up that he should. He doesn’t deploy his team properly (know this one first hand) and overplays/underplays the wrong players (still recovering from the drinking). I think it’s time he goes.

As for Dubas: maybe, maybe not. Not a fan if it’s true he came out and basically said “all is fine, the underlying numbers are good.” That’s Garth Snow level of dumbassery.

Expecting a competitive team and a wild card spot is a ludicrous ask?

No. Expecting cups, which some people are actually doing, is ludicrous. Also, I hope your expectations are higher than wild card. This team should be battling for top three in the division, that’s competitive.

1. The only thing that seems clear is that the Leafs look absolutely lost under Babcock. You nailed it under your first bullet point. On paper, this team is bursting at the seams in terms of pure skill - Babcock is actively impeding this narrative with his stubborn refusal to let this team loose. Tyson Barrie's ineffectiveness is a testament to Babs' refusal to play the player based on their skillset.

2. Curtis McElhinney is sure ripping it up as a backup with TBL, isn't he?

3. Freddie needs a (frank)ing rest. The Leafs were NOT winning that game last night.

Nope.
This is a wild card team.
The real disappointment with last nights game was there was a big opportunity for garbage time points and Matthews and Nylander missed out.
