It's funny how people are criticizing are coaches for teaching young players how to play the game. Is it wrong to want these kids to learn. - Buff36
casey and dahlin have played worse as the season has gone on, not better
so this really does not support your post as they would be getting better , not worse |

So when is this gonna apply to guys who have been in the league for years who are still making mistakes?
Why can McCabe make endless mistakes
Why can Hutton have awful games and not have his status as our #1 questioned
Why can Vesey do absolutely nothing the entire season and stay in the lineup every game he’s healthy?
Who’s been better this year, Vesey or Dahlin? |

When I was in school, I could do a lot of math problems in my head and get the answer right, but the the teachers would make me show my work. When I did it their way, I'd (frank) it up
Dahlin has the kind of natural talent you cant (frank) with too much. Krueger has him hesitant and confused. He's (frank)ing this up |

And maybe being such young players, they aren't ready for what everybody expects from them. Players mature at different rates. |

We're pretty close.
I wish for the coaching staff to focus on these guys, especially anyone who doesn't earn at least a B-. They should be getting extra tutoring IMO.
Except specific to Dahlin where it appears he has been over-coached to a degree.

This presumes that sitting on the bench for an entire period against a mediocre opponent in November is "teaching". I am not going to assume that this guy knows what he is doing any more than the previous several clowns that held the position. The warning signs are out there.

Jonas Johansson also playing really well in Rochester, much better then the hamburgler
Weissbach, 1 less point then the chosen one at Wisconsin
Pekar on fire
Rousek taking a big step forward this year
etc
etc
etc - homiedclown
Maybe, just maybe a couple of these guys pan out.
The future could be bright...the Next Year after the season that follows Next Year, maybe. |

Well I already stated Veseycan take the bus, you can say what you want but Dahlin has been bad defensively basically the whole year so far. Every goalie has bad games, a lot of that goes to how the team plays in front of you, and he is not #1. And McCabe is playing above what he should be, I don't know why he is still playing, I think he should have sat before Miller, but are coaches see something |

My point is I have seen things that make me think the coaches decisions should not be considered infallible
I truly, 100% believe he’s trying to teach Dahlin not punish him.
But at what point is the most important thing to win hockey games today?
Because no matter how bad on defense he can be, he still gives us a better shot today than Jake McCabe |

Well, McCabe plays left, while Miller, Montour, Joker, Risto play right.
Not that it can't be done for a short stint, but playing your offside is less than ideal.
McCabe and Montour have played their off-sides though.
The unfortunate thing is with Dahlin sucking so hard defensively, it makes it tough to push him down.
They should be experimenting with different looks more than they have been. I mean, Botts said they are still figuring out what they have.
At this point, I' d trade McCabe before Scandella.
Scandella and Joker have chemistry.

We are 19 games into the season, we are on pace to be were everybody predicted us to be. It's not like he was given a team of all-stars. I am willing to give him a little more time to put his vision together. Jesus half these guys won't even be on the team next year |

McCabe is way over his head as a 1st Pairing...he is a decent 3rd Pairing.
Dahlin is questioning everything including skating to retrieve the puck in his own end on his side as 1st D man back. Their teaching has confused the crap out of him so far, the Coaches need to find an alternative to what they are doing with him, cause it is obviously failing. |

I agree, Joker actually looked decent playing his offside. And I would trade McCabe to, but unfortunately probably get more for Scandella right now |

The problem is that they caught a lot of teams off-guard with their aggressive system including a fast transition game that was north -south focused.
They no longer surprise teams, who have adjusted their game to force a more east-west break out and slow the neutral zone down by clogging it.
Sabres have been unable to adjust their system yet to overcome that.
Further, when you play McCabe and Risto the most, two defenders who struggle to find the breakout pass, rather they throw it (blindly alot) the boards, that north-south game is compromised. |

I agree boards, and think coaching needs to be better. I want the best for Dahlin, cause he is gonna be special. But I want him to be the next Lindstrom not Myers, I really don't find what they are doing with him a problem. Unless some miracle happens we are not winning a cup this year. |

how many players are playing better in the last 5 games, vs the first 5 games
the answer reflects how good the coach is
I can name 1
Joker
that's it
and the call up's which are busting their ass to stay in the nhl, asplund and lazar
is vesey, johansson, miller playing better now vs the start of the season, as this is their first trip around the merry go round here, my answer is easily first part of the year
is okposo, girgs, larsson, mccabe, sheary, skinner playing better in the last 5 games, or the first 5 games
these are all vets who have been here a bit, again my answer easily the first part of the year
so now the kids
olofsson, casey, dahlin, and I will throw in e rod
again, they played better the first part of the season
this is 100% on coaching, and the coaches ability to make this young team better
eichel is eichel
skunk is skunk
risto is risto
they are what they are and I would not expect much of a difference
but the overall team is playing worse, which again reflects on coaching
joker is getting better, but no more ice time
montour is back and solid, but the team's overall play is worse
we don't have a hall of fame coach behind the bench we have an unproven NHL coach |

Ok, again 19 games into the season and we are were everybody predicted us to be, and said it was a good Coaching hire, but would take time. Does the coach need to adjust, yes, but other than 3 or 4 players he was given the same poopty team as last year |

they flat out sucked the last 8 games, looked every bit as bad as the last half of last season
which is the point
keep turning over the roster and nothing changes
it's jack, skunk, skinner vs 18 skaters |
