And for the love of god, shoot the puck. And that goes for a lot of guys.

When the shooting lanes are open they need to take the shot....your correct.

I've got no idea why Myers was scratched unless he was the rookie whipping boy for the coach to get the message accross to the team about Friday. Otherwise, their strongest d lineup includes Myers. On top of his play, sanheim plays better with him.
- Hextall271

I’m not sure. I’m sure he’ll be right back in there though. As long as this doesn’t turn into a pattern. Twarynski needed a sit. But really twar is a 4th liner playing out of position.

So when do you think chuck pulls the trigger on moving voracek?
He just isnt buying into AVs system or what?
Who will take that albattoss contract?
Hayes is untradable and playing pretty poorly. Id like for AV to sit them both but here we are...short on centers.
Bench jake and hayes. Take an L. If they come back on fire afterwards then it was worth it.
But thats 15m of salary producing nothing right now

Bench them for who, exactly?

There were numerous passes that were of the mark last night, not just the PP. Routine breakout passes were botched leading to extended zone time. That's what tires a team out. Again, the Flyers top players came up small. Giroux had one play where he had a direct lane to the net and completely stick handled it into a play where no shot or pass attempt was made. Giroux was indecisive on his SO attempt leading to an easy poke check for Greiss.

Time and time again I’ve watched the vets receive a pass with a step and a chance for a high percentage scoring chance to only fumble it away, get caught, or pigeonhole themselves into a predictable play. When Lindblom or konecny get the puck they are normally making something good happen from very little

G needs to step it up. But so does half the team. Not sure why the focus is always on him. Just bc of the c.

Minus coots tk linblom niskanen and raffl. All can be better consistently.

No way around around it, that was a bad loss.

Fatigue is real and certainly showed in the third so that is an excuse but it helps to explain some of the issues we saw in that game.

Coots was a beast. The goal was a great shot as were a few others. Hope his shoulder is coming around.

The difference last night also came down to why they have gotten points in the past few weeks. While Elliot made some great saves at least two of the goals were saves they have gotten.

No way around it though, brutal loss. Tuesday is even more important now.

Ottawa was the real let down. Coach geared everything to make sure to nail down a win there with starting hart and shortening the bench going into a back to back.

It was a miracle they pointed against a rested trotz team.

If the Flyers play that type of game to the Isles 100 times they lose 99 of them in regulation.

I’m not one of those “SHOOT!” guys. The Giroux and Konecny ones were obvious. But their powerplay has been passing up shot opportunities to continue passing around the perimeter.

Put pucks on net and good things happen. Look at the Isles goals last night.

They were ridiculously gassed. All of them had cinderblock skates and were desperately lunging at pucks with their sticks while standing still. I can’t believe they managed a point

These types of weekends, 1 point out of possible 4 and 3 points was a realistic opportunity, are on the leadership group. Subpar performance against the Sens. Up 3 goals at home late in 3rd. You have to lock it down. Someone has to step up. AV shortened bench in Ott cause he knew that was their best chance for a W. Never should have been playing from behind.

We've seen these types of missed opportunities for the past several years. G, Jake, Coots, Ghost are the core leadership group. You don't have to be Nancy Drew to figure it out.

I'm open to options.

Tons of talent but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if he was dealt.....some ask how would we replace his offence? Those comments are growing more and more silent. Tough to move the contract.....so what’s coming back could be scary.

What about a Jaimie Benn for Vorecek deal ?

- landros 2

Id rather someone looking to make a cup run and willinf to part with q top prospect and maybe take a mid level or two talent to offset his price tag. Adding a younger new face to this team goijg forward while moving out a core guy who seems to hold us back more then help us at this point. No teams come to mind but its a pipe dream
I dont know what is wrong with jake voracek this season. It doesn't look like he belongs here or cares to even be here. I hope he figures it all out really soon snd increases his trade vakue

Their is a general parity level in the league. As such, the team that out works their opponent typically gets rewarded.
The Flyers have players that seem to need consistent reminders to keep their feet moving and their stick on the ice. Not to pick on Konecny, but he is one of those players, particularly in the Ottawa game. Not being up on your skates leads to the decisions that put your pursuit angle a foot behind where it needs to be. As a result, you don't seal a guy off against the boards or you're on the wrong side of the scrum for the puck. Or it leaves you lunging for or chasing the puck.

That said, the veteran forwards need to up their play.

Also, as with last year, they are squandering too many prime scoring opportunities. Way too many odd man rushes not resulting in a shot on goal or a player open between the dots (particularly when they're on their "off-wing") electing to not shoot. They need to set up a kangaroo court to fine each other for squandering those opportunities.

I dont have that answer but a message needs to be sent. What qould you suggest AV do to get these guys going, Bill? Id be happy to see frost play a game or two and let him get a taste of the NHL. Maybe he figures a littke more out in the AHL after that ? Your thoughts?
Bill, why do you think they are even having these struggles? Coincidental slumps at the same time?

Benn is really, really, really struggling this season and had a rough first half of last season before he eventually came around. Beware of power forwards in their 30s (even early 30s).

Its going to be impossible to move big term and money players like Jake and jvr to teams looking for playoff rentals. It’s going to have be albatross for albatross like Jamie Benn or a seabrook

The focus is on Giroux because he is the team captain, the team's highest paid player and the team's franchise player. I agree a number of other players can be better.

In my opinion in the Ottawa game, Konecny was one of the few players that played at an acceptable level. He was putting it out there every shift.

It's clear to me that he is no longer a top player at the center spot. The issue is that without him at center right now, they're short on centers.

The Flyers need to break up the Lindblom/Couturier/Konecny line in my opinion. Can't play Giroux with Twarynski.

Don’t want to hear about fatigue or any other excuse, blowing a 3 goal lead with 13 minutes to go in a game is unacceptable, period.

Some observations:

Stewart is not an NHL player any more, he simply cannot keep up with the pace of play. Waive him and find a better option for his roster spot.

Get Myers back in for Hagg asap. I prefer the occasional mistake over consistent mediocrity

Get Frost up here now and get Giroux back on the wing where he belongs

Hayes is obviously pressing, but nevertheless he needs to be better. The same goes for Voracek.

JVR needs to bury his chances. Unlike say Hayes, who can contribute to the team in multiple ways, if JVR isn’t scoring, he’s pretty much useless out there.

I never thought I’d be missing Laughton, but right now I’m missing Laughton.

Elliott had an up and down game, but he’s a solid backup. The key word though is backup. Other than the back to backs, he needs to be on the bench.

Finally, FFS, get G and Jake back on their off sides on the pp.
