That was so painfully obvious that Wang told Snow to take him (in the 6th (frank)ing round, no less) simply so he could say he drafted the first Chinese-born player in NHL history.

Song managed to post a whopping 1-2-3pts in 100GP in the USHL and has dressed for exactly zero games at Cornell

I looked for him and he was no where to be seen

What rumors? Do you have a source?

Highly doubt the Islanders are trading Pulock or that Calgary would want him heading into a big payday this summer, given their cap situation.

If it's even remotely true, and I'm pretty skeptical of even that, they'd almost surely be trading Gaudreau for picks/high-end prospects and/or young, cheap, controllable NHL players to create some breathing room under the cap.

Heard it on a radio station in Montreal. Some journalist from Calgary covering the NHL on the Athletics broke the rumor. Maybe Dobson would be more appealing... I think by using one of our defenseman, we could get offensive help while opening a roster spot for Dobson...

They can have Leddy, Bellows, Aho and a pick. And only when I’m feeling (frank)ing generous.

Not getting the impression Lou is busting at the seams to open up a roster spot for Dobson.

This is the second "rumor" today that has the Islanders moving Pulock... lol. Why would the Isles think about moving one of their top 2 D-men? They are playing the guy over 20 minutes a game. He is not getting moved.

would they move Dobson, Wilde, or even possibly Leddy for a legit top line guy... maybe. Pulock.. I can't see it happening.

Truly though, would you move a #1 RH D, a probable top 6 forward prospect, AND a 1st round pick for Gaudreau?

Gaudreau is a great player. Pains me to say it, but it’s true. But he’s also softer than baby poop. Like Nylander level soft. What’s more, he’s been damn near invisible in the playoffs.

Gaudreau would help the offence for certain. But I wouldn’t pay what you suggested. I’d want a MUCH more complete player for a package like that.

Also, Gaudreau is off to a slow start this season. 5 goals, 13 assists, -8 in 23 games. I'm not putting together that package for a 165 lb. guy who may already be on the downside of his career. The NHL takes its toll on far bigger players.

And pouting about it too. I’ve seen little to no fire in him at all. Not sure why.

I just don't think Calgary is going to be dying for a defenseman who's about to get a big raise. It doesn't make much sense for them. Not so sure I'm dying to move Pulock or Dobson, either.

The guy put up 99 pts just last year. Far from being on the downside...

What about the obvious fact that the isles are on a 14 game pt streak, and someone's reporting that they're going to break that chemistry up? If the isles do anything its going to be because of injuries, and they wont be trading three roster players.

We all know that Lou will not take the risk of messing with the force of this team, which is team chemistry, by trading one of it’s core pieces in Pulock. But can you keep Dobson in the press box say 60-70 games????

His entire line posted career highs last year. That certainly had something to do with his own personal success.

I’m not saying that Gaudreau won’t crest 90 points ever again. But nor am ready to say for certain that he will.

Dobson will see games. Injuries inevitably happen. They're not gonna be on this streak forever. I think Dobson is that good, that this wont be detrimental to his development. They have a top tier blue chip waiting in the wings.....when's the last time you were able to say that?

Personally, I'd love him. Watching him and Barzal zip around the ice would be a hell of a thing to see. I can live with one soft player, honestly. Not everyone needs to be Cizikas.

That said, I don't like the thought of trading vital roster players or high-end prospects like Dobson to land him. If Lou could work some Snow-on-Chiarelli type magic and include Bailey in the deal and not give up and hugely-important pieces then that'd be pretty awesome. But I'm not dying for the guy either.

Boychuk will inevitably get hurt, if not someone else. Dobson is going to get shafted this season but it's not like he's going to spend 80% of his time in the press box for the rest of his career. They'll probably move out Mayfield to make room for him next year.

I don't think landing Gaudreau is a bad idea, but I'm not totally sure a deal could be worked out that's good for both sides.

For sure. Just not for the package mentioned. Especially when cheaper, though slightly less effective options may be out there (Ehlers, Athanasiou, etc).

I would kill for Ehlers, if he's available. I like Athanasiou but I get the feeling he's not really a Trotz-type player.

Bailey and Nelson prove that you can live with two. The question is, do you really want a 3rd?

I can't believe this is real. They spent $500k on that ad campaign. I could've came up with something better for like $10k

Could be worse. Like the time the provincial government of the Yukon received a costly lesson in sexual slang.
