He's not the problem. The top line is a shadow of what they were last season. - tincup
If we had some cap space a Barrie for Hamonic wouldn't be completely awful.
Just for an easy big change for two talented teams struggling. |

I'd do that. Haven't really watched Barrie this year but he's always impressed when I've seen him. Hamonic has been okay. |

Doesn't really matter what his numbers are in Finland it's not the NHL or even AHL.
As for that rumour about a 1st and Kaski i would call it BS. If Yzerman actually offered that Holland would have jumped on it and the deal would have been made. Look at what Yzerman gave up for Perlini and Fabbri...at this point, Puljujarvi isn't worth that much more no matter stats he puts up in Finland or where he was drafted. - dcz28
Perhaps. I didn’t start the rumour FWIW.

Seriously?
How about Talbot? Soft on the goals or was he hung out to dry on most of them? - leonkennedy
He was fine, the game got away late but kept them in it. A goal would have gone a long way....zero support. |

How was he last year?

Well only a point out a WC spot and 2 out of third in the division, so no need to panic yet.....at least not a panic on the same level as leafs fans are on. |

I don't think they are, and I think the panic level in leafland is overblown right now too. Unfortunately they aren't in Carolina, Florida, or Arizona where nobody gives a (frank) about hockey and the players aren't under the same microscope. |

Neither should panic.
But I don’t think either should just sit on their hands right now. |

Probably should put the GM on the hotseat too. What with picking up Looch and Talbot in the off season. - leonkennedy
Lucic And talbot haven’t been the problem at all! They were our best players tonight! And they have been fine all year. |

Shutout 2 nights in a row ... even accounting for how good nhl goalies & D are ..that’s pretty rare for a team as offensively gifted as Flames. |

Agreed. Matthews stache needs to go. It's creepy as (frank) and clearly the cause of the problem inside the room/showers right now for the leafs. |

Yeah, that's what I meant, last year Barrie was really good with the Avs..haven't watched him this year. Hamonic is steady and nice to have around. I like his physical edge. I'd suggest trading Brodie but after his collapse, not sure what's up with him...but he looks like he could use a change of scenery. |

Trade Bennett before he grows that lame moustache again. Add Valimaki. Get AA and a pick. |

Calgary needs a Right handed shot that can score 20 goals. Tyler Toffoli comes to mind. So does Wayne Simmonds, Kyle Palmieri and Nikita Gusev. Obviously they will all have different asking prices but Bennett and Frolik is a starting point and Frolik can be flipped again at the deadline for another pick/prospect.
I agree they should ask around on Gaudreau. He's always been a bit of a whiner. He's also one hell of a hockey player so I dont think you should be giving him away either. But if this team wants to make a serious play for Taylor Hall, I think Gooch needs to be part of what goes the other way.
Josh Anderson isn't a top 6 forward in the NHL. He simply doesnt have the skill. He's an adequate third line player but should not be expected to provide 20 goals on ANY team. Boone Jenner is part of the leadership group in Columbus and is valued a lot more than his point totals indicate. But then again if you're talking Gooch, he could be had.
I agree a one-two punch of Monahan and Backlund is a little weak up the middle. There were rumors of Zucker but if they're trading with the Wild they should want Staal. Side note, I wonder what Peters thinks of Victor Rask.
Finally, perhaps the most logical trade would be Nylander for Gaudreau but I also expect Kapanen could be had for a lot less. |

Thought Lucic has played his best hockey the last 2 games - shame the same can't be said for the rest of the team.
There's not one guy in the top 6 who has played well in the last 2-3 games. Not one. Chucky's been as bad as the rest of them.
Flames need a kick in the pants and hopefully 6-0 was, if not the kick, at least the windup... |

@ Nylander for Gaudreau GTF outta here.
Victor Rask is a great... 4th line centre. We have 4 of those already in Janko, Dube, Ryan and Bennett...
The Flames need a couple of things - a sniping #2 centre and a kick in the pants defensively. Too often there are breakdowns either in the offensive zone that lead to breakaways and 2 on 1's. Well, 3 things, Frolik needs to go
Leave the top line alone, they will put 250 points as a unit by the end of the season |

I dont think there is a fair trade out there right now. Other GM can smell blood in the water. Desperation tends to manifest bad decisions so I think retooling lines is the best idea at the moment.
- 5 for Gaudreau and Mony ..... you cant bench these guys but you gotta try something.
Tkachuk, Monahan, Lindholm
Magiapane, Backlund, Bennett(Frolik)
Gaudreau, Jankowski, Reider
Dube, Ryan, Lucic
If that doesnt put a fire under Gaudreau's A$$ I am not sure what will. Both Janko and Reider are trying to showcase for contracts next year so hopefully they would push themselves to the limit with an opportunity to play with some top notch talent on their line. |
