Umm, first, if you read my post again you'll see I attempted humour, but failed miserably.
Secondly, are the Habs mining poop? - bloatedmosquito

As long a splaying 26+ mins a night every game doesn't destroy one of Drai or McDavid, they probably take 1st in the Pacific. Sucks for me cause I have a bet with 2 buddies with Beer on the line. - Retinalz
Would love to see them both miss like 4 games at the same time. Nothing serious, the flu or whatever. Just to see how terrible they would be without them. |

My guess on the Corey Schneider waiving today is because he will be traded to Utica. Benning does not want to lose a goalie on waivers two years in a row. Once CS clears you will see a trade of CS for Loudini and Mikey DiPietro . Schneider will stay with the Comets and Loui will report to NJ.
I think the Habs will look to the Devils and also send Caulfield ( Hughes old line mate) and a second and a fourth for Taylor Hall.
That is my prediction.
Utica play the Devils Wednesday and Domingue already playing with NJD

Beagle ready to play tomorrow . Sutter will be back in a few day. Roussel now full contact probably ready in a week. A player needs to be moved. |

Trade in the next 48 hours - VANTEL
A trade in the next 48 wouldn't shock me...but this is convoluted and doesn't appear to make much sense to me:
* Corey has a $6M cap hit until the end of the 20-21 season, plus a full NTC
* Corey is paid $18M in real $ ($6M each) for those 3 seasons, while LE is only paid an additional $5M (since the signing bonuses are paid)
* LE may play in the NHL again (somewhere), while CS appears to be "done"
* Mikey has upside and may play in the NHL (somewhere, sometime)
Why would the Canucks do this?? Why wouldn't you just take a chance on losing MD / a goalie on waivers, rather than pay an extra $13M for an AHL-level goalie?
Help me understand what you see the motivation to be?? |

Loui Eriksson has 9 mil owing after this year. Canucks will buy out Schneider paying him 8 mil total instead of 9 mil and also gain 4 mil in cap space for next year and the following year. The actual money spent from next year and on they save 1 mil. The only money they lose is this year .
Edit. Just checked no savings . Loui is owed 8 mil after next year . Buying out CS is 8 mil also. So they ony get the 4 mil cap space for 2 years. |

you're right on LE and $ owing...I missed the salary in the last year of his contract.
Well...OK, let's see. It seems like a lot of wasted money to me, but clearing out LE's cap hit will require taking back something comparably ugly.

edit: what was the point of Brackett scouting the games, then? Seems there would have to be a player of interest to the Canucks, and that wouldn't be CS |

It is wasted money for sure but ask yourself this , if Canucks could have bought out Eriksson would they have? I think they would have. They want the 4 mil cap space.
They can buy out Schneider and cut their losses.

He was the reason why I was still interested during 3rd periods in games last year when the Canucks were down by 2+ goals, I would just wait for him to stir poop up - Nucker101

I agree that if they could buyout LE they would have. They (obviously) want more value for the actual $ spend + $6M cap hit than they are currently getting.
This is a more complicated scenario than I would have expected from the Canucks, but I can see your logic...the actual $ over the next 2.5 seasons are a wash, plus they get the cap release on a buyout. Costs Mike D to get the $4M in cap relief
This seems to be predicated on CS waiving his NTC...not sure what the deal is there. |

Well he could spend the next two and a half years in Binghamton or get payed 2/3 of his salary for doing nothing and becoming a free agent again. |
