As I have said about 1000xs before, hopefully he will be at the same level he is playing at now when we will be contending!!

I have no issue with signing Panarin. Was a risk worth taking, and his play in all three zones, not just the offensive one, sends a message to the young kids on how to play. That type of teaching comes best from your skilled players, especially ones making big money, who could just be a one zone player. I get your view Brukie, just wholeheartedly disagree with it.

Panarin is signed for 7 more years and has more skill than all of them. Who cares how much older he is if he will be here and be a main piece the entire time.

Did you consider Hank a roof when he was 31 or 32?

Completely different situation with Hank. The Rangers were still contending for a Cup when we signed him. The Rangers arent contending for anything now.

And a completely different situation with Panarin.
This isn't like picking up Gaborik or St. Louis or Richards or any of the other big FA's. Those guys were meant to be icing on the cake and get us over the top.
Panarin has been brought in to be the flour in the cake, not the icing. He instantly legitimizes any steps forward and provides a role model for all these young kids who may have star potential.
Who exactly would you have them learn from as a peer? The perennially inconsistent Kreider? Mika who is just figuring things out? Staal who is past his prime and on his way out?

Lucic, Erickson, Perry, Subban, Ryan, Ladd, Johnson, Phaneuf, Seabrook, Parise

Of these players, only Subban was a top ten player when signed to a long term contract.

Panarin was brought in to be the flour, and the Isles didn't get the flour. I know I have bad humor, I didn't think the reference was that bad

Also it was bad.

It has nothing to do with being a top ten player or not, it has to do with their decline in their play over the course of their contracts.

Some photographer tweeted the picture and I jokingly commented asking for someone to photoshop that angry picture of Tavares from the Pens blowout into the front row. A day later someone actually did it and sent it to me
