18 points in 23 games so far this season, and had 99 points last season

pretty dumb if they move him

I wish we had another player other then Jack who we’d be disappointed with if he had 19 points in 23 games.

I wish the Sabres could ever nab a star player in the mid rounds.

Darcy blew, Murray sucked, Botterill has underwhelmed

What they all have in common over the past decade is they never lucked out and hit home runs in the later rounds.

I do understand your point, however Caufield could have been the pick at 7.

Botts had his choice of every draft eligible player available after pick 6, that is the opportunity you have drafting early although it’s not completely fool proof.

There are players picked every where in the draft that turn out. I’ll take my chances in the top 10 of the draft, at the expense of losing on purpose.

Fixed
And back to what i kept trying to tell you,
ther wasn’t much difference between pick8 & pick16

It’s theoretically better to pick top10 every year,
if u look at it in a vacuum
But it’s just not that clear cut

O’Reilly won’t be the last player for us to “lose his love for the game” if we keep tanking
Losing takes a toll

I wish the Sabres had a player that people hated that won a Selke, Conn Smythe, and the Cup in the same year for us.

*for us* is the key phrase.

Maybe he never gets dealt if he played at a Selke caliber level for the three years he was here.

Everyone says they want a trade and they are fun and exciting but what was the last in-season trade that made a difference with the Sabres besides the tank year and the trades helping us in the negative? I can't recall many.

Yeah, and also...
I’m sure Botts (and coincidentally EVERY OTHER GM) is just “sitting on his hands”, not wanting to try & improve the team

I think it’s fun to debate and bounce ideas off one another that we like

But I’ll never understand how the day long complaining every damn day does anything for anyone other than make them more miserable
Utter waste of time

I thought someone would’ve said Montour by now. I’m not gonna, but I thought someone would have.

Well he's a nice piece but they finished with, what, the 5th worst record last year so I'm not sure he made much of a difference and they are heading into the abyss once again with him on board so debateable the difference he made in terms of wins and losses.

I just don’t get how u can go on with this??

ROR proved he could be a big part of winning the Cup
He literally did everything you (and many others) said he couldn’t

We should have been looking to build with him
Not ship him off

And if this is me being a douche, then sorry
But it’s not even debatable any more

Me too
But since ROR is a taboo topic around here,
let me try to spin this another way

In a heartbeat,
I’d make a trade for an ROR type player if he was available
Especially for what we got in return

I can’t believe there isn’t a person here who wouldn’t trade:
-a late 1st
-a late 2nd
-Tage
-and 2 cap dumps (or basically, Okposo)
for....
-let’s say someone like Couturier
*if somehow available of course

Done freaking deal
But that’ll never happen, right?
Well...
That’s EXACTLY why we should’ve kept one of the best 2C in the league

Sucks, bc we could be a step closer to being a good team right now

But now we’ve gotta wait
Wait for Mitts & Cozens to develop into good NHLers
Which I’m fairly certain they will

But this is the price we pay for shipping him out

We need to be totally fair though.

He’s tried to add UFA’s.

Zuccarello
JVR
Donskoi
Gardiner
Boyle

They all turned us down.

He can’t force guys to sign here.

It is a factor that he has to find players willing to play here long term. It’s not easy.

We were the 2nd worst destination to play for voted on by the players

- sbroads24

I've never read that all of those guys flat out turned the Sabres down when Botterill tried to sign them. Where did you get that info from?

Yeah... it seems we aren’t the only team with crazy negative fans

- jdfitz77

13 years w/o a playoff series win

big difference between negative fans, and fans that want hope

as long as botts sits on his hands, like 12 months ago, the fans will lose hope. again

Team needs veteran leadership from guys who can still play a bit. Nobody is listening to Okmoulso. Scandella might be the only example of what we need, except he's marginally good. I'm talking a Williams or Getzlaf type. I doubt they're out there, but that's what we need.

Rumored that Gaudreau is being heavily criticized. There's an article from the Athletic in Calgary saying it may be time to move Gaudreau.

And if he cracks 70 points that will be another first for the kid, how many people would be disappointed with Sam for that kind of production ?

Nobody will be disappointed with Skinner when he puts up 55 points this year because he scores even strength goals. (Except me apparently)

Johnny Hockey goes through one slump and their fans are ready to burn him at the stake.
