2-6-2 on pace for 49 pts.
-------
10-7-3 on pace for 94 pts.

Will the real Buffalo Sabres please stand-up

Why would anyone expect such a young team,
with lots of new players, and a new coach/system, to be anything but inconsistent?

Obviously Botts has made some good moves,
and needs to make more
But it’s better that he wait till a GOOD move is AVAILABLE,
than to overpay & make a BAD one NOW

I get that it’s frustrating
But it is what it is

Anyone heard anything on the trade rumor front?

I know this isn't going to be popular here but I'd move 23 in a major shakeup. I can't have one of my top players be a below-average skater and too often invisible. Short of that I'd move him off of the top line to see if he really can drive his own line. I know he put up decent stats away from Jack in a limited sample size - if Jack is going to have the puck most of the time I am fine moving him somewhere else.

Oh yeah, he's done a terrific job. His roster is the envy of the league

Botterill traded ROR for a guy who quit, a guy we hope quits, a fringe 3rd liner (so far) and a 1st and 2nd round pick

if he nailed that trade i think we aren't even close to where we are now

i think its also very fair to ask if the only reason Risto is still here is because he was scared to ROR it again

I think it is fair to say that he was told to take the best offer on July 1st before his bonus was due. The two can't be a coincidence.

Why Risto is here is a mystery to me.

Same thing was said for Bylsma
Same thing was said for Housley

Both of those turned out to be, players were just not good enough.

Same Players, same results.

He's arguably made 1 good trade and one good FA add in 3 years. The rest has been mediocre-to-bad. I have no idea why people want to continue down this path

Joker, Miller, Skinner, Johansson - those are some really solid moves while not giving up much. I think you could criticize him more for the moves he hasn't made.

Those are the two I was giving him credit for. Joker is good as well. That slipped my mind. Miller? Well he's in the press box. The rest, well, we all know the story. Beaulieu, scandella, vesey, sheary, sobotka, etc.

Skinner is one
Joker is 2
Miller is 3

Sheary is arguably 4.

Like I get it, he needs to make a move 2 months ago.

But it’s not like we also aren’t dealing with a 19 yo star slumping, Olofsson playing like a rookie, and a new coach still getting a feel for the roster.

They are 10-7-3

The first 10 count the same as the last 10

Seeing as we were already trending down after game 5 I can no longer get the warm and fuzzy about our record. We've now been trending down for several weeks and in the same point we were last year where the season could easily get away from us.

1st was used on Johnson, looks like a very nice pick.
2nd was used on a top ranked Goalie prospect
Hopefully Tage turns into something and who new Berglund was gonna lose it, Sobotka was a salary dump. It will take a couple more years.

If Sheary were a free agent signing, I'd still call it a bad move. He's a big part of our middle 6 problem.

That could be part of the solution. However I think moving some of our d-men for depth will help give this team a shot at least competing for a playoff spot.

I think it’s down to moving some faces that have been around too long. Letting some kids get a shot. And moving 2-3 d men out.

It’s possible that maybe Botts had foreseen the injuries to Sobotka and Okposo in which he MIGHT use Pegula oil tactics to force retirements opening up cap room to hopefully trade for a possible top 6.

I dunno I guess it could possibly be Hall for Ullmark hopefully.

Don’t pout cuz it’s totally might possibly happen dude.
