It not the “expecting to get to the playoffs” part
It’s the b!tching & moaning EVERY SINGLE DAY from some, and the constant wild overreactions, that we could do without

I genuinely believe that we are waiting for the first group of guys to "graduate from Rochester" and take up these sheary/veasy & twins roles which also seems to be lining up with a lot of cap space coming off the books. I assume he will fill in the gaps through a UFA or trades for contracted players. I wouldnt be surprised if this was the plan he outlined to ownership before he got hired. Im guessing 2020 is when the ownership will want results.

I have been through the good times and the bad times with Buffalo Sports. I would really like Botts to make a move to help his team out, but I want it to be a move that helps now and the future. There is no quick fix right now, it is time for some of these players to take responsibility for there poop play. Botts can't shoot the puck for them, way to many opportunities missed because players can't hit the net with there shots. Or throw a goddam body check, if you have a chance to give a clean check to someone, do it, makes them think for the next time they touch the puck, that's what I was taught. These guys are professionals, you don't make into the NHL cause you suck. Botts can take some of the blame, but it falls on the players to.

Between Gerbe and the crystal ballers I'm pretty burnt out on this place.
Believe it or not, this place used to actually not be like the cantina scene in Star Wars.

Agreed
And signing mediocre talent to UFA deals wasn’t the way to go this off-season either

You’ve been killing it with your takes lately

Everybody wants this team to be good, but do it right, I don't want Botts to do something just to make the playoffs this year and be 1 and done, I want it to be a decade long with multiple cups

Like I said, I think that is his plan. He probably explained it to the Pegulas using the Penguins as a model, but with the waste Murray laid to the prospect pool, it was gonna take time.

That's why I wanted Cozens last year. I think we have a better team this year then last, but if there is truly no moves to add a few top 9 reputable guys that fit the mantra of good for "now on", then it would be safe to start doing some research on the top end of this years draft.

Exactly
And being good NOW would be great too
But if very unlikely a move can be made that’s gonna “move the needle” very much

Don’t need Botts acting out of desperation & trading Risto for a bad return

Don’t need Botts/Kruger putting kids into roles they aren’t ready for

Yeah you can see it, I don't really blame people for how they are feeling though, it has been a rough 20yrs for are Sports teams, well other than the Bandits.

And i love that he built up the defense first
Defensemen prospects are usually very valuable trade chips

So you finally came over to my side of the fence. All of those 10 page debates from last year from January onwards and you finally see the light

And take longer to develop. Now he can pick his top 6 or 7 and sell off the rest. He may be at a bit of a disadvantage, but he'll get something....

The contracts that these players are getting. The Benn, Doughty, Karlsson, Hayes, Josi, and Wheeler contracts are cringeworthy

No one is happy

But b!tching all day long on here isn’t gonna suddenly convince Winnipeg to trade us Ehlers (etc)

Ranting once in a while i get
But some ppl just need to chill out

I still disagree with your premise in its entirety though

1) even u didn’t think we’d fall as far as we did
2) there are players drafted every single year in the 15-20 range that end up being better than those drafted in the top10
3) your call to “tank” wasn’t just for last year
It was until we have enough talent to be Cup contenders
...a) how can one really know when that is when some picks are bound to not work out
...b) and even with the ones who do, it happens to varying degrees and lengths of time

It kinda seems like your about ready to say we should tank again this year

And sure, high end draft picks are great
But unless you are in a situation to clearly go after an Eichel or Dahlin,
then you should be trying to win
Even if that means u pick 16th instead of 8th

Good post, that's exactly why I have no problem with some of the things he has done with some of are players, especially the generational one.

Indeed. I was 100% against going after EK65
Age is a huge factor too

I’m on the fence as to whether or not we should go after Hall this year
But if Mitts can continue to develop like he should,
and Cozens as well...
the Hall could be the missing piece we need up front

Gonna have to figure out the Cap with him though
