3rd period means nothing. No moral victories, Jack. They lost. They stink.

If the refs don't take Aho off the ice in the final minute, then the players should. BrindAmour lucky they weren't down 2 men in that final minute. - powerenforcer
I mean, Kane gave him a stick afterwards, and then Toews and TT got into each others faces for some reason.
But yeah that was a crosscheck. |

(frank) Aho & his boarding/cross-checking ass!
It wasn't a game they deserved to win, but I respect & appreciate resilience from the boys. Good to see. Lehner, great as usual. Kept them in it when it didn't look like it.
I'm calling it a night. Good night peoples. - I Am The Breadman
Correct. That was a clear penalty on Aho...crosscheck or interference. Kane did not have the puck. How do these referees miss a blatant call like that. Totally hosed. We probably would have scored 6 on 4 with the weak Mrazek.
Good Momentum is all they needed. Encouraging finish.

But Bingo, what you are missing is, he should have been in the box, so Kane would not have had to go after him after his goal. All I have to say, if another games end like that and a player gets hurt, it is on the refs! |

No I get it. I'm also saying that play happens a couple times per game and is almost always 50/50 on if it gets called, especially when there's under two minutes left.
I agree it should have been a penalty. |

Was that Toews who missed the one timer from Kane there late? Wide open net. Hawks just couldn’t get the offense going. Toews looked like a monster in the 3rd. So much jump in his legs and strong on the puck. |

how about 10 minutes...but the canes are very good defensively...quick to defend and support, really good with positioning and their sticks...
hawks got no zone time for 2.5 periods and no second chances..

I don't know what hockey you watch (oh yea the 'Canes), they must play that way. Aho had no intention of playing the puck ever, that play gets called every time. Interference, crosscheck, boarding, take your pick. |

Maybe thinking of different times. Kane fed Toews across the top of the slot on the rush and it rolled on him a little so he didn't get much of a shot off. Mrazek was totally out of position. |

No idea. He's amazing at home, but weird and sloppy on the road. The only other real option was Lehner, but we weren't giving anybody term right now with Svechnikov, Hamilton and Necas to sign soon.
I guess we'll see but he was enough to get to the conference finals last year and this team is better than that one was. |

The stats read pretty even, even though the eye test said Carolina carried the play for all but the last 10 minutes.
The one pair of stats that reflect the Canes dominance is the Giveaway/Takeaway delta. The Canes had 11 takeaways to go with the Hawks 13 giveaways for a total of 24 change of possessions in their favor - versus - the Hawks 7 takeaways to go along with the Canes 4 giveaways for a total of 11 change of possessions in their favor. That's a delta of 13 change of possessions in Carolina's favor - that A LOT for one game, and it's pretty reflective of how most of the game went. |

OKAY - since the Hawks lost we can now discuss line combo changes - meaning time to move Dach up the lineup.
First - I would leave the Cat-Strome-Kane line alone - just leave it be.
But, the other three lines need to be rearranged. I would move Dach up with Toews and Nylander. That moves Saad back with Kampf and Kubalik, and Shaw down to the 4th line.

Cat-Strome-Kane

Well not going to win them all ,this team seems to have a tough time getting up for Caroline .Caroline is no push over ,that why they were a very tough out last year in the playoffs . Hope the HAWKS come out of the gate fast against TB . |

Did Kane just pass it to himself off the defender's skate?
It looked to be on purpose. - hawkitect
Exactly what I saw. I think he was trying to draw the left D over and then pass it back to the guy with him on his right but got in too tight so just made a stuff attempt himself. Quickest mind in the game. Guy is just incredible. And that was a classic hit from behind that could have caused injury by Aho. How the (frank) is that not called. |

TBL plays a similar style to the Blackhawks, or as Stamkos says a high skill game. They haven't been themselves this season because they are actively trying to change their game to fit the mold of Carolina. Which was something JC was trying to do with us, but like TBL, the skill players cannot make the adjustment.
So we could either see TBL act like us a few weeks back or they could be like Carolina.

Wait. The Dach - DCat - Kane line scored 2 goals on 1 shift. Let’s see where that leads. |
