Wait. The Dach - DCat - Kane line scored 2 goals on 1 shift. Let’s see where that leads.

I wouldn't mind giving that a try. Put Strome between Kubalik and Kampf maybe?

How about leaving Strome between AdB and Kane.

That worked well last season, and, until last nite, for several recent games since they were put back together.

Get AdB back scoring goals - only 5 in 21 games, although he seems to have become an assist generator.

I would like to see Strome earn his next contract away from ADB and Kane who would inflate any center's numbers. Dach is the answer between those 2 as I believe his style and skating makes him a better fit between them already.

I like those combinations. That 4th line has a lot of sandpaper but expensive for a 4th.
My only question would be faceoffs for that 2nd line. Is Dach ready for that as a full time responsibility? There would not be anyone on that line to do that.

I did find it ironic that the Hawks were being dominated by one line on the Canes, so what did Colliton do, he broke up his best line (the Kane line) that has been one of the hottest lines in the NHL for the last 10 games.

Is Colliton going to juggle the lines every time the Hawks fall behind by a couple of goals. It seems to be his pattern. I am not a real fan of that.

Does it drive anyone else on this blog crazy when the Hawks have a left handed shot set up on the left wing side of the PP and a right handed shot on the right wing side on the PP. It is really hard to get off a one timer that way. The puck has to cross your body.

DeBrincat has a lifetime faceoff % of 44.1% with the hawks. The nhl stats don't indicate how many faceoffs he has won/taken, but it seems like he isn't horrible at them. I also remember Kane has taken faceoffs in the past, but his numbers aren't as good at 37.8. But still, both of those numbers are better than Dach's current percentage.

Also, DeBrincat's numbers arn't far from what Anisimov's were, and they are better than Schmaltz's.

I don't know if he's good enough to play centre any more, it's time to move him to the wing.

When he turned it on last game he was really, really good.

It just took him a long time to turn it on.

Pretty sure Stl. Braves was one of the guys who was certain Dach and the Hawks would be better off in Saskatoon. Braves will enjoy learning more about hockey as the days go on.

Yup. Overall, the last 2-3 weeks. The Hawks play has been pretty OK.

If compared to ALL of last year. It has been great.

The shot total was more acceptable last night.

The big thing to work on now is coming to the rink prepared RIGHT AWAY. EVERY game, without exception, they get outplayed and outshot in the first ten minutes. And usually by a lot.

I think last night might have been around 10-3 after ten or so minutes.

Time to correct that. Play 60 minutes guys. Not 20-30- or 40

hawk defense wasn't the problem tonight...the canes defense was

a blow out leads to a 2 on goalie
seabs stick knuckles one in
very nice outlet by the kane turns 56 around...

Bingo might or might not agree, but Carolina could possibly have the best transition game in the league, along with a pretty good neutral zone trap. Washington has the heavy team, and Boston has the best top line, but Carolina should be in the mix of top NHL teams.

Agree here. It wasn't all the Hawks not showing up for the first 40 but also strong strong transition, good positional hockey and DMen joining the rush.

If Dach can show soon here that he can handle being a Center for the most part I think it would do wonders for Toews the same it has done for Claude Giroux. They need for Dach to be that second center though AND they need either Kampf (continue to do so) or someone else to step up as the 3C before the could seriously consider it though. It would make some sense to put Dach with Toews though because if they needed a big FO win they could slide Toews in which is basically what they are doing now with the 4th line and Carpenter.

I think neutral zone structure for the Canes is really where their strength lies.

Goaltending is an cause for concern, as always, but Carolina can compete with anyone with the way they hound the puck and hang onto it once they've got it. Everything runs through the defense.

He was a monster in the 3rd period. Appears he has found his legs. Looked really explosive. Need him to start racking up some points. I think you need Kubalik or Nylander on his line. Someone that can finish. Saad is Saad he will be streaky but also blow some really good scoring opportunities.

Please can we keep Shaw away from the top 6? He is doing nothing for me.

I also think Toews will at least be a really really good 2C in 2-3 years. Assuming Dach takes over 1C duties or even 2C if Toews is still the 1C.

Do we want to pay Strome 5mil plus to be the 3C for the next 4 years or so? Dach at 18 can do everything Strome can and he is a much better skater.

LAHawks. You just had to bring up that damn Game 7 against the Habs. Also, TBF to Maggie, he had just stepped onto the ice when that little mother(frank)er Richard went around him.

Dryden make the save on Pappin and I may be not be remembering correctly, but I believe Mikita hit the crossbar and someone hit the post in the last 5 minutes of the game.

My Dad was at that game. I was in our yard shooting hoops while listening on the radio. A whole bunch of went to Petricca's to watch the end of the game on closed circuit and join in the celebration. I was crushed when that game ended. My cousin and I were taking off school the next day, etc. Needless to say, I was not happy at school that day.

Three quick hits from last night -

1- Play Gus in front of the net on the power play & use him as a forward from time to time?

2- Regardless of hit stats no one in a Hawks jersey hit anyone all night?

3- Zebras were cowards on the cross check on 88-if that wasn’t a cross check what is?
