Talked to a source this morning who informed me that Jesse Puljujärvi would really love to play for the Canadiens. The Habs already have a great number of Finns and the city appeals to him greatly. The Habs are also facing some serious injury issues currently and the stars may indeed be aligning...

he's unsigned, but the Oilers still own his rights, so does that mean the habs still need a trade to acquire him, or do they just need to obtain negotiating rights?

I'd give it a shot. Young guy with size and (maybe) talent. Wonder what they're expecting in return?

Hudon + Juulsen + 2nd?

ok, well in that case doesn't a "Hudon + Juulsen + 2nd" package seem high for a guy who hasn't accomplished much yet in the NHL? I know he has potential...

edit: #4 overall, right... lol

If they wanted barely nothing to get rid of him he'd already be playing somewhere else in the NHL.

Thing is for Puljujarvi, the talent is undeniable.

Oilers are stuck between giving him away for less than he's worth as a former 4th overall pick or holding on until they get an interesting offer. The pressure is also on the players who's "wasting" a year in Finland (he's got 23 points in 20 games so he's most likely raising his value right now).

I have no idea what they consider a good enough package to give up on him but it's mostly their plan to wait it out until they get one.

Trying the Sakic with Duchene strategy in hopes Ottawa will give them a top4 pick as well if they wait long enough.

so I guess it's already been determined that he would never wear an Oilers jersey again? If he found his game back it would be in both parties' interests to have him play with the big club...

I have not.

I did however buy some wings at Costco on Sunday.

Does that count?

He got 23 pts in 20 games in Liiga, not bad. Best scorer on his team.

Puljujarvi made it clear he doesn't want to play for the Oilers again.

He'd rather play in Finland.

yeah, can't say I blame him, as Edmonton had become a country club where young talented players go to die
