They put together a good game for almost an entire 60 minutes. This one could have gone either way.

I am a fan of the team and want him to succeed i really do...but if him being solid is 4ga its beyond frustrating. It's mostly the fact that he never finds the big save for me...I see a lot to.love with jarry regarding that tho.

He made plenty of big saves. A few in the first period. On the PK a couple of times. Made a sick glove save from a shot from the slot. Made a few saves in OT where the Pens couldn’t do Richard.

He has one of the highest HDSC save %'s in the league..

Yet never seems to make the big timely saves right.

Wow....what meltdown. You won't see a more horrific 3v3. Honestly, I'm hanging a lot of that ending on ZAR. He was putrid.
- madmike71

Likewise. Him and Schultz were absolute garbage at the end of regulation.

Except he does make big timely saves, all the time. You just seem to disregard them until he lets one in.

Dude i gave him credit with 5 to go..and 3 goals later we have a loss...blame all u want but the tender is on the team too..he can occasionally steal a game for us...he is allowed to do that..just never does.

Gotta give props to the Isles and Trotz. If they weren't in our division/conference I would root for them.

that wasn't on Murray. Pens didn't win a face off the whole time I was watching at the end and the 3 on 3 was terrible.

Murray drops his glove constantly and the league knows it. He also lets in leaky goals like the game winner. Too many get through him.

I agree he makes spectacular saves, and I agree he is likely the best they have, but that just tells me they need to find better.

If he truly wants 7 mill. I hope he gets it elsewhere.

Never said it was on Murray...no no..said if solid means 4ga it's not good. At the end of the day..dude gave up 5. That is too.many..and for the most part the team played well. The whole team lost it with 5min to go..but mur is the last line and he didnt step up to save the team having a small lapse this game. He needs to with all these injuries...he has to carry his weight the same as everyone else.

Honestly I don't want Schultz back at, or on a discount from, his current salary. Marino is proving every game he is top 4. ~20 games in the league and he is already better at defense than Schultz. ZAR can hit the bricks, too.

Except he doesn’t. MM makes big saves all goalies do, but MM has not been making the timely saves the Pens need to get through these injuries.

He has not been providing quality goaltending the past two years.

U are comical. Honestly...this team hasnt done squat since maf was shipped outta here...those are facts...until mur shows me and the rest of the nhl he can do something without a bonafide starter nipping at his heels for net time...I say he is a bust. Like I said..I want him to succeed.. I really do. But he is not elite at all.

Yeah that guy is a fool. The team is the one that failed on those goals, not Murray. When you give up those types of chances, you can't expect a goalie to step up and make the save. The goalie is at a huge disadvantage in the situations the pens put him in tonight.

The way Rust is playing, he's my top line RW with Sid. I'd probably have Hornie back with Geno.
- madmike71

I think I stick with pairs for now: Guentzel-Sid, Malkin-Rust if this continues, and McCann-Kahun. Hard to move Rust an I kind of want to keep him on the right.

I think this is the reasonable ground with murray. He is not an elite, all world, consistently steal games for you goalie. But we can’t act as though he’s costing them games left and right either. He’s inconsistent, but when you blend it all together over a large enough sample, they could do worse. I’m not even a huge fan of his, but they could. However, I do not sign him to a seven year deal for eight mil a pop by any means.

It's games like this that make me angrier about losing to the Devils the other night. I'm not mad the Pens walked away with point. No Sid, Letang, Bjugstad and Hornqivst? Taking a point from a team like the Islanders is fine. Losing to a team like the Devils is not. That should have been a gimme game.
