I was wondering the same thing.
Also, what dman gets moved? It’s easy to say Riikola, but cap space and what not, would we all get our wish and JJ is a goner? - Rinosaur
Pretty sure his preference is on his off side so I’d say a righty would be going. |

Can't help but think that if JP wants to be a Hab, he probably figures it's easier to expand his 20 word french vocabulary than his 10 word english one. He's never going to be an NHLer (don't tell your GM's, I want to see him traded) because he's not into working through adversity. Evidenced by his desire to stay in Europe this year whether a trade happens or not, his inability to communicate in english 4 years after being drafted in NA, his inability to grow as a player in Bakersfield, ect. |

I'd like to see a pie chart of Hockeybuzz headlines for the last 2 years representing the segment including Puljujärvi versus the segment(s) not including him. |

I highly doubt what JP wants will have any influence on what Holland does or who he gets traded to. |

It makes no sense for Holland to at least not be somewhat accommodating. Right now he has nothing. If he trades him somewhere he wants to go, he'll have a pretty decent something. No one is giving up anything without the assurance from Puljujarvi that he'll sign.

He's not a pending UFA. If he wants to play in the NHL, which he has repeatedly said is his long-term goal, then he'll report to wherever he gets traded to. Then sign a series of RFA contracts. If he wants to be a Hab (debatable source) then he can wait until he's a UFA in like 6 years or whatever. He has no leverage to dictate where he wants to play. |

Haha exactly. And for people who think Holland will be told what to do to by an RFA just refer back to Athanasiou who had a lot more backing him then JP does. If JP wants to play in the NHL he will report to whoever he is traded to. |

He's Finnish, and he's getting paid to play hockey in Finland. Things are going alright for him He has some leverage. If you're Hollard, getting something is better than nothing. It's not like anyone is going to be offering anything substantial for him. Take what you can get. |

Athanasiou was completely different. He's Canadian so moving overseas wasn't really an appealing option.

Yeah sure Eklund, Jesse Puljujarvi has no say where he winds up... - LoveMyWings58
Puljujarvi is an unsigned RFA ... nobody will trade for him without some indication they can sign him ... unless it is for a bag of pucks and a roll of tape. |

You should review how RFA contracts work. Let's say he gets traded to X. They simply give him a qualifying offer. No negotiation. Sign it if you want to play in the NHL. Or stay in Finland making a fraction of the money. We hold your rights now. Again, it's a risk to pay a steep price for a UFA that walks away. But he's a cost controlled RFA. Huge difference. |

Again, you don't seem to understand how things work. A team won't trade for him unless they know he'll sign. He didn't exactly light up the league in Edmonton. Who's giving up anything of value without assurances that he'll sign?
He's clearly show playing in the NHL as soon as possible isn't a priority, so why would anyone call his bluff? The first thing any GM wanting Puljujarvi is going to do is talk to Puljujarvi about what's up. |

Is Brodie even okay? I haven't seen anything since he collapsed on the ice.
They've run a bunch of tests and the leading theory is that he just fainted. Could have been something as simple as not eating before practice (personal experience) but who knows.
Pretty sure the Flames are still after top 6 help though--they tried to trade Brodie for Kadri in the summer. I hope we don't trade a top 4 dman for a god damned backup... |

Ok dude. Obviously in any deal the agent would give some indication of the players willingness to play there. No different than any other trade. So if the Habs start talking to the Oilers they will have a quick chat with JPs agent just to make sure the guy doesn't do anything dumb like stay in Europe forever. But you are missing the point. This isn't Trouba who could dictate New York or nothing. This isn't Stone who was a UFA and obviously discussed the terms of an extension. This is an RFA with no rights. |

Those two sentences contradict each other. If the agent says he's not willing to play there, the team's not going to trade for him. That's leverage. The fact that he's playing in Finland right now gives him leverage.
Obviously he has less leverage than a pending UFA, but if Holland wants a reasonable return for Puljujarvi, he's going to have to find a match that works for him.
If he was nothing but an RFA with no rights, he'd be playing in Edmonton right now. He has leverage, and he's using it. |
